It was interesting to say Peter, speaking impartially, thinks AL, English League 1 and Scotland ( outside the two big Glasgow clubs) are similar in standard.
Peter anointed the AL and League 1 as a higher technical standard than Scotland. Moreover, that Scottish fans would be very unhappy that they are only considered the same quality as L1 and the AL , because they perceive themselves as much better.
From viewing the Scottish league myself, compared to Wrexham, Celtic and the AL, the off the ball movement by players when teams have the ball, is petty poor. The coaching in this facet of play is poor too, when teams have the ball. They've been left behind.
Conversely, Celtic look a million dollars! Superb football style!
Where Scotttish players are good is 1v1 heading duels, tackling, and body on body duels in the transitions, or contested ball phase of play.
They are probably pretty good as team units at holding compact shape in Ball Possession Opposition too.
If Wrexham are typical of the average L1 team, which by finishing 3rd in L1 and progressing to the Champ, they are probably better, then L 1 has improved immeasurably since I saw it when Fox had the viewing rights. Ditto the Championship, which was essentially a hoofball league.
Peter also contends that the AL has less intense Squeezing and Pressing off the ball pressure in Ball Possession Opposition. Is that because we play in summer - and - compared to Europe we live in a much hotter climate?
Peter also really knew a great deal about a lot of our Aussie players.
