I agree with your statement, and its a shame bc he couldve possibly been a gold mine of info which continues to remain in short supply! From that he come across as someone who was absent even if he was there!

Having said that, the very real economic fear is a key concern for all, especially without access to said information to atleast analyse/hypothesise its viability!

For now we continue to fly blind and hope for the best.....honestly hate to think what the cost for football overall would be if it fails though!!
KPMG evaluated the bids and fiancnials, the AAFC had their own financial plan presented and scrutinised, the FA has "aaproved" 8 clubs financially ..... we fly blind I agree, but someone know something... why the "message" keeps changing from third party pundits is the real key here....

Hope you are right mate.... seems more like this has gone on the back burner... FA cant tap their heads and rub their bellies at th same time it seems?

Too busy with other priorities?

I wouldn’t say other priorities, they certainly have a lot on their plate and the NST is only one of them.
I think JJ’s slow and steady approach has put the game in a much better place than it has ever been.
We are all anxious to get football on an even keel and we are definitely seeing progress on many fronts.

Thats fair... I am certainly happy with JJs progress compared to the past 2 decades of stagnation thats for sure....

Patience isn't one of my virtues :P

I mean if they were investing more in growing the participation rate that would be good....but last budget had 1% to grass roots grants

Yer thanks for posting but yer it’s Spider.
I haven’t been one who has jumped down this guy throat due to his behaviour patterns for I see him from the pov of his career that was pretty ok but this was a stupid interview being he has been coaching at SU until lately - a club who had gone through all the process’s of costs etc re NST as one of the 8 clubs approved and he doesn’t know what the costs involved and resource coming from ????
Like come on are you that vague or didn’t SU management give you any idea of the backbone process being approved ?!
Seriously what a joke !

Kalac was signed on to coach a football team, not be the clubs financial adviser. It wouldnt surprise me that he doesnt know the in's and out's. From what i can remember, pending on what your current wage bill is in the NPL, you'd need to add another $300-$400k on top.

Sounds like he was more concerned with the support of the B-League from an FA & Media point of view.

it's no secret the FA have gone MIA and no-one knows what's going on, hence why the clubs at the moment are "scared".

More likely that no-one is talking to Kalac because of his bluster while important negotiations are going on. Never known for his considered opinion.

True Beretta I understand your take BUT despite him being the Coach (ex) surely you'd would had chin wags and got some kind of intel with his employers whom he has known for a long long time.
Thats my kind of take on it being he is/was involved with the club and the history.
Its not like he knows F all OR as the interview presents he's that far out of the picture I find it baffling.

He had a massive fall out with his ex employer, if you watch the full interview, he says his departure from the club is still a 'touchy' subject and 'politics'

Yes he is a club legend, but sometimes his actions and comments baffles me too.

As he was head coach and DIDN'T know what his wage budget was for the season and where the money was coming from? C'mon mate... I fund that hard to believe. I 100% agree with him that pushing support from media and FA is vital.... but it just seems like Spider being Spider...

yep in bold, been his prob for as long as we've all followed the local game.
Just astounds me he always ends up in quick sand.

Heres hoping south hobart sorts its issues out and gets one of those spots..same with canberra...
one can only imagine the lustre if the NST has a team from canberra, Tas a team from WA and a Qld outfit all established... 1 away from 14 team full round league! If we can scurry a team from NT this league could effevtively be pan-australian! What a marketing ploy/first right there against all codes and leagues!!

Wishful thinking i know, but its good to dream..

so thats adelaide city, melbourne knights and st george right? Just need one of qld, tas or act?
Metrostars in Adelaide wanted to join for 2026. Although, that was announced early 2023, before the NST was delayed two years. They also were part of that Football SA joint bid.

I love it, but from memory the problem with Perth is they alone add 30-40% costs to the league. As harsh as it is, I'd be excluding them for quite a while.

Gonna be awkward if Perth are the first team to get promoted and they have to be blocked out of costs haha

I know i know, its the ultimate pipe dream!! I dont disagree in the least, under its current format it sure doesnt economically work...and its too early, and the clubs are limited and and and.. im not doubting any of it, if anything im just as cautious given our footballing history ... my fear remains that we will get bogged down in some half baked system like it currently seems and then lose momentum etc and if it fails then we wont get another chance at anything again!

It may have been said even by you HG in the past that a structure similar to a north/south and east/west coast could minimise those costs.. distance between say canberra and darwin is simlar to melb to perth.. group act, nsw, qld and NT and group vic sa wa and tas. Then ultimate finals play offs!
Not (my) ideal but something that makes sense here given our vast landscape..

The goal ultimately remains pyramid and p/r down the track then lets not start with any exclusions and just upsell it for what it is all australian encompassing! After the AU cup success we continue to build on that one football ideal!!

Like always, just thinking out loud, even if i am in repeat mode sometimes 🤣🤣
