Disagree, 33k to a game last week. Fans are there. Just need some $$$ and proper leadership.
yep great crowd, derby is derby.
What about general games that make up most of the season, SFC are the exception atm that we see posted here re crowd avg's.
Money isn't the answer imo, whats money got to do getting more people to turn up week after week to their home games.
People turn up because they want to see a show/performance on the pitch and the atmosphere, hence the derby being successful despite the form of either side.
Each club does their marketing week in week out.
It doubled SFC's general avg these people don't turn up for any other game generally.
Leadership, well thats what it is/have, proper leadership can you elaborate ?

What bout the general games? League average is approx 9k I believe?

Exactly, marketing is non existent. If clubs had money to throw around at marketing, no double attendances go up. I literally have no idea when games are on. Compare to AFL, which I don't follow, and I know when and where nearly every AFL team is playing.

Marketing is all social media based these days. Eyeballs are on phones so that's where the marketing is focused. The days of stumbling onto information are long gone. If you're not following a club and/or league on socials, or actively follow a club in general it's unlikely you're going to see any marketing. If you don't watch Channel 10 or Paramount+ you're not going to see any marketing. The clubs are pretty active on the socials.

yep I mentioned each club does their own marketing, thats todays way, pretty easy checking up the mobile, seems biggie dare I say is melb based knowing every afl game - poor fella.
Mate when your into something your check yourself not hard - I check everything on the mobile as most do today, my NSWPL even the Vic Qld - live in my Optus Sport, heck I even check AL (watch some) so as I have some intel to debate :)
Even robbos even though likes to be stealth I see him hahaha

A funny thought.... It might actually be a blessing in disguise that the big NPL clubs, South and the like, not being in the A-League will actually help connect the pyramid. Stay with me here...

If South, Preston etc. were in the A-League, I don't think a national second tier gets off the ground. And without an NST, the pyramid never gets connected. The big boys in an NST is a great thing for where our football is at right now. Exciting times.

Yep, apart from the socials, it's FotMob for me. Takes less than 20 seconds to look at what football is on this week.

yer not a bad outlook HG, I agree IF any current Clubs were accepted in the past to present probably nothing more would occur BUT we'd still have that disconnect re the eco system.
This is the killa period hence my ongoing loving support of my grass roots to NPL.
We need to see the light at the end of the tunnel so to speak, the hope of breaking the surface when under water deep so to speak.
This can only help improving our game, the development, the ladder stepping, the fear of going down, the ecstacy of winning promotion, the grief of going down, it either makes or breaks Clubs.
Preston what a great example of striving to get back up seeing the sunshine.
This is FOOTBALL.

Not trying to be stealth mate, I'm all good, you, Mono & me have been thru this. No need to stir up old wounds.
I like A-League you guys like the NPL, all good, we are love football.

Geez Liverpool, not even into 3rd gear yet, what team, Slot has them humming mate, some of the best football I have seen for a awhile.

Glad I got you in here, I know mate, I just struggle with those who have blinkers.
In the end something is going to give and hopefully for the better of the game.

Mate I'd like to get into a better gear mind you re the Reds, sure going ok but that was 2 points that would have been nice in the bag and more comfortable space, way to go yet I stress every game tbh.
I was with my Derby mate on the course this morn, new gaffa as expected, hope they get away from relo in the coming games at the same time my Leeds mate is rejoicing here we go here we go.

I was more excited of the last minute goal at SFS, than anything Derby doing at present, that roar was intense & some grown men, in front of their daughters ripping their shirts off, they were ethnics like me, but all Aussies, showing passion in a Franchise league, who would have thought.
That 30K roar at the end was football for me.

Thats NOT a bad call... It certainly was South, Preston and a few others what have been pushing for a second division the loudest....

In that case how are we supposed to attract fans who don't follow a club/the league?

My work is office based, so the radio is on all day, and I hear ads for the cricket, AFL and NBL, never A-league. Even things like billboards on the side of the road would make a slight difference.

Agree with the social media, all clubs very active.

Not familiar with the Melbourne football scene, would Souths take many/if any Victory supporters if they were in the same league?

Also, what changed with Preston, I believe they were in the third tier not too long ago? Was it simply one or two Makedonian blokes digging in to there own pockets?
