World Cup Qualification Thread for 2026 - Socceroos/Asia

Is it possible we could have the decision reviewed and the entire 1998 tournament replayed?

Just rewatched the highlights... the ball is played through by an Iranian to a player on the ground in an offside position who plays it across the box to the scorer. On the night, I was screaming offside. And I'm still screaming today.

Why am I the only one who thinks the player on the ground in the lead-up to Iran's first goal was offside?

Hopefully it was about a request to move cities plus reassurance he'lll be picked in June. I can't believe how depressed I've been about the prospect of losing him. Circati, Matthews, Triantis, Balard, Irankunda, Toure, Bos and a few others. We have some exciting times ahead.

And yet Nizz has never been picked (nor Balard to play) and Irankunda has never been seen again after Popa played him out of position and then hooked at half time v China. I wouldn't have thought him petty either and yet the evidence is stacking up. Hopefully he's going to give us all cause...

Especially after the way Nizz tore Popa's team to shreds in the second half of last year's GF. Maybe this is Popa's way of getting even.

His loan is finished at the end of the Scottish season and then he's a Sunderland player again.

God help him if he chooses Greece. He'll never be welcome back at Avoca Beach. Popa's already not welcome.

For those concerned about Triantis, the following might be reason for hope... taken from a Hibs forum... His agent said this in a recent interview "It's about what does Nectar want? Ultimately, we're hoping that Australia get to the World Cup. That changes things. He has to play next year. We...

I will just about top myself if Triantis rejects us for Greece. He's the one I most wanted selected in the last few years - him and Irankunda.

For those who've not seen much of Triantis for Hibs this year, this compilation shows exactly why he was named in the SPFL team of the season. Surely (with Balard) our most in-form midfielder at the moment.

Triantis and Balard are both exceptional at keeping the ball under pressure. Okon E very good also but not doing it at top level yet.

If Circati is playing now, why shouldn't he play in June?
