    A-league attendances 24/25

Having random fans with typically very low football ability competing in some boring football task to win a signed top versus pretty girl in short shorts playing violin. I know which one I'd rather see at half time.

Ross Aloisi would have had very similar budgetary constraints and he had Roar playing very competitive football and getting good results. Stanton had the Jets playing some good football in the back half of the season. If he goes to Roar I reckon it would definitely be an upgrade over Ruben...

I wouldn't at all be surprised if we see the opposite. Salary cap is getting reduced next season, which probably won't effect clubs like CCM and Jets in the same way it will effect clubs like MC, MV and SFC. It will bring those bigger clubs down closer to the level CCM and Jets are at now.

Is it just me or is this the first season in a long time where there are not really any stand-out coaches. Not saying they are all bad (although a couple are), just that there doesn't seem to be any that are head and shoulders above the rest. Example, last season Montgomery was clearly...

I'd expect the opposite. The players would be thinking that they need to put in the absolute best performance because they could very well be looking for a new club in the off season. A player performing well is always going to get more and better offers. That's where my mind would be if I were...

    A-League Mens 24/25 - Round 29

2nd/ACL spot still up for grabs for MC, WU, WSW and MV. Although MV is a bit of a long shot. They would need to win, and the others all lose as well as close the GD gap with MC. Only a 4 goal gap so it's in the realm of possibility. A win or draw from SFC will put them into finals and knock AU...

Considering Macarthur weren't even able to sack a coach without losing a legal battle and receiving a signing ban tells me the Macarthur legal team are about as sharp as a handful of hand cream. My bet is this case has zero legs. Lawyers will be the winners here.

A win or draw from Auckland and they are premiers. Highly likely as they are at home against Perth. MC can still mathematically be premiers if they win their next two and Auckland lose their next two and are able to close the GD gap.

Not really. It was added about 10 years ago. It's 10% salary exempt for any player that has been with the club for 5 consecutive seasons. Then an additional 10% exempt for every year after that with a cap of 50%. Not many players get to that 50% level. Right now Rhyan Grant would have 50% of his...

That's football. Players come and go. Always disappointing to see a fan favourite leave but the following season there will inevitably be a new fan favourite. Unlike the AFL, we don't have the luxury of being the top league in the world. The best players are always going to go onto better...

In a way we do need to drop the focus on crowds and ratings. It's an unsustainable chase. Any sugar hit that might get the casuals attention is fleeting and a false positive. Organic growth over time is the way to build crowds and ratings. The Aleague is two decades old now. The shiny factory...

That was a decade ago. That era has long passed us by. In recent seasons it's been all about the young upcoming stars breaking through. Experience is important, but we haven't seen a new Bruno or Berisha for a while now. Especially not one that sticks around. If/once the proper NST is up and...
