    Mariners new ownership soon?

You seemed to be happy to name and slur Federal MPs without even realising that transport is essentially a state responsibility.

    Mariners new ownership soon?

No - it was a Liberal State government decision. The Football NSW COE was to be adjacent to the new Vineyard metro station before the Libs did their property developer mates bidding and changed the route and blew the cost out.

    Mariners new ownership soon?

You're right about Turnbull. But Gorman came up with the money on the day he was approached by Ian Kiernan - the day submissions had to be in. Without Gorman there would be no Mariners. TBH the spot was earmarked for Wollongong wolves - who refused to put in a bid. Didn't stop Les and Fozz...

    Mariners new ownership soon?

You must have a bad memory. It was primarily started by the Spirit leisure Group and the main investors were Lyall Gorman and Peter Turnbull. As Gorman transitioned to other roles Turnbull became the primary owner before the GFC and some dodgy deals about around the route of the metro that now...

    Mariners new ownership soon?

It was BS. Mike Phelan was here for a few weeks as an adviser and the journos made up the rest.

Hall is eligible for Australia and Fiji. However he has a broken ankle. Sainsbury should be starting soon at CCM. Not sure what he will look like but apparently was okay in trial games before he was injured.

A League franchise competition v Big Bash franchise competition?

I find that the cricket -especially ODI and T20 is very like NRL. It is on as a default. People do not necessarily actively watch it. They are interested in it though. When there is a wicket or someone is really going to town against the bowling the change in tone of the commentators will cause...

Waddingham last year vs this year

I think Kaltak got injured early in the game and stayed on. Soon after Archie scored after making Kaltak and Paull look silly. He certainly seems to know his way to goal.

I did have it wrong = it was 80% over the last 2 seasons. 4316 - 7314. After 4 home games last season 5989. This season 6839 up 14%. With a decent run this season we can probably approach pre-covid levels this season. You also have to understand a lot of coast people lost faith during 5 lean...

Mariners attendances are up 70% over the past two seasons. They are also up 14.5% from last season at the same stage of the season. Last season the only Australian teams with better home crowds were Sydney, Victory, Wanderers and Adelaide.

The original capacity was supposed to be 20,000 because of a State govt agreement with the AFL. A major city like Melbourne needs a larger rectangular stadium. It shouldn't be a pipedream. When Melbournians complain about Sydney getting so many Socceroo games they have to think of the stupidity...

    Expansion Thread

My major peeve on infrastructure is that Melbourne does not have a 45,000 - 50,000 rectangular stadium to be used by the 3 rectangular codes. The MCG is awful for watching football. Marvel is ok but the AFL will rarely allow use of it. As an aside - this is the type of development we should be...

    A-League Men 24/25 - Round 8

Haven't played a top 6 team - so 12 of their remaining games will be tougher than what they have played.. Draws with CCM (7) and Perth (12) . Wins against WSW (9), WUN (10), BNE (13) and NUJ(11)

    General FIFA World Cup Discussion

I'm not - that's why I said 2 continents *Europe and South America) - Morocco just across the Mediteranean. Basically arbitrary lines on a map don't make for longer flights. Longer distances do.

    General FIFA World Cup Discussion

Two continents might cause a problem but 3 countries such as Spain, Portugal and Morocco would probably include less air travel than say one larger country like Brazil or Russia

The big pity is that a joint Asean bid with NZ as Oceania could have hosted with nearly everything already built

I'm not attacking him just questioning him. I had put him on my ignore list before and will probably again - but I would really like to know (1) does he follow a club and (2) has he ever made a positive post.
