I'm not so sure on that, at least from the Brisbane perspective. In the 80's the Brisbane papers used to have pre and post game reports on the NSL club(s), as well as reporting (mainly post game, but some pre) on the Brisbane Premier League (the NSL equivalent back then) which included photos...
