I wonder why other clubs dont enter?Based off my total count of 2024 clubs in Australia (1653) , this means 45.8% of Australian clubs entered the 2024 Australia Cup

Distances/travel would be a huge challenge for regional Clubs who have next to no funds to cover transport accom in many case's.It would be great to get it over 50% this upcoming year. Areas like regional WA are surely missing out. I know the border regions of NSW and Vic are also missing out. People need to get their clubs involved and engaged.
Can we make it a mission?
the semi pros is a given in most case's, theres resource.I wonder why other clubs dont enter?
Yeah I get that but what I am more asking is, for example the Sunraysia Football league in VIC has 9 x clubs from what I understand yet only 5 applied, why not the other 4 clubs from the same league?the semi pros is a given in most case's, theres resource.
The good Clubs/players I know don't want to risk injury for in the meantime they are Clubs/team that will be vying for the season title.
Plus many of the players just plainly couldn't give a toss, they train twice a week, work, party, why bother.
Then you have the opposite who do attend for the glory of being in it.
yeah its a fair point I guess.... still think its moving from strength to strength every year and would love to see more participation from grassroots clubs.ah yes true, it is played very early those rounds.
Like I said I think Clubs struggle rounding up players to commit, if not many 1st graders they think whats the point.
Just to clarify, the list of club numbers by region is not who has entered the cup, but the amount of clubs that exist in that region/association as of 2024. So Sunraysia these days (not counting any clubs that may be in the metro, state or premier leagues) only have Irymple, Nichols Point, Three Colours, Mildura City and Mildura United.Yeah I get that but what I am more asking is, for example the Sunraysia Football league in VIC has 9 x clubs from what I understand yet only 5 applied, why not the other 4 clubs from the same league?
Also most are out of the Cup before the season is well and truly underway, why not, at least, use it as an early season warm up?
- VIC - Sunraysia - 5
Oh, thanks so much mate. I was going off a quick google search... I defer to your MUCH MUCH MUCH superior researchJust to clarify, the list of club numbers by region is not who has entered the cup, but the amount of clubs that exist in that region/association as of 2024. Ahh, those 9 would be the Aussie rules league.Oh, thanks so much mate. I was going off a quick google search... I defer to your MUCH MUCH MUCH superior research

Slowly updating this when I get time now (only will list what's changed until I get to the end):Using those numbers (and my total numbers)
NSW - 159/556 - 28.6%
VIC - 219/296 - 74.0%
QLD - 126/199 - 63.3%
SA - 52/165 - 31.5%
NNSW - 70/177 - 39.5%
WA - 69/163 - 42.3%
TAS - 20/31 - 64.5%
ACT - 20/37 - 54.1%
NT - 12/17 - 70.6%
Would love to do by region, but would mean breaking down the map for NPL/State leagues, etc (yes, will be mostly metro, but I do know there are some regional teams that compete in metro/state/NPL leagues - this includes Yoogali and Wagga in ACT, La Fiamma in Geraldton WA, Northern Demons in SA to name a few)
Based off current state breakdowns, these are the regions we can use:
Probably should include New Zealand, since I’m counting Canberra United as an APL club, this now brings the APL total to 14, and the total clubs to 1655.

Above is the breakdown by region I’ve done so far - noting I haven’t gone through the following numbers wise. (which are mostly metro though).
Those with asterisks are regions that are sub regions that named the same as the main region, so have included in that for now, but haven’t formally split the top league up.
- WA NPL, State, Metropolitan, and Amateur leagues
- SA NPL, State, Amateur, and Collegiate leagues
- NNSW NPL, Zone Leagues, North Coast Premier League, Northern Inland Premier League
- QLD NPL and QPL 1 and 2
- VIC NPL, VPL, State, and Metropolitan leagues
- NSW NPL, League 1 and 2
APL clubs have been included in what I’ve determined as their association (all 3 Melbourne teams as Metro, Mariners in Central Coast, Wanderers in Granville, Sydney in Eastern Suburbs, everywhere else is pretty straight forward)
Surprised at low percentage of participating clubs in NSW, SA and NNSW, especially when compared to Victoria (and NT).Using those numbers (and my total numbers)

A lot of it would be regional clubs not taking part. For example, I know only 2 clubs from Griffith took part (3 if you count the extra that’s technically part of ACT), because of travel costs, and generally, if they draw a home game first, the Sydney team decides to forfeit because they can’t be bothered travelling.Surprised at low percentage of participating clubs in NSW, SA and NNSW, especially when compared to Victoria (and NT).
NSW was the last Federation to start rounds/games for at least the last 2 years.
