I guess it's partially because it starts so early in the year. Most regional leagues (in Victoria at least) start when the metro leagues start. That's a good month after State League, and a good two months after the first cup games. Getting that many registered players by then is near impossible.Need to get a lot more of the regional leagues involved.
Good to know. How does regional Queensland manage to play their qualifiers late January though? I kinda feel like if it's working well somewhere, then others should try to copy it. I hear a lot of excuses in Australian football.I guess it's partially because it starts so early in the year. Most regional leagues (in Victoria at least) start when the metro leagues start. Yeah I'm not sure - a lot of Vic clubs outside of State League have the option to go in or not. Some do, but a hell of a lot don't. Agree it would be good to get more in.Good to know. From what I've gathered today, Regional QLD has their own bracket until there is only one remaining - this club then enters the final round of QLD's preliminary rounds.Good to know. Here's the breakdown by regions for 2024 entries - based off official results pages + Wikipedia. Will start with the very easy ones, and update this post as I progress.
I've just added each region that exists at the moment (with zero numbers). Will do my best to ensure that NPL/State League clubs (generally metro) that compete from other regions in the state are captured in the region they're from. (Examples: Yoogali SC and Wagga City Wanderers competing out of Riverina, NSW - La Fiamma in WA leagues competing out of Mid-West/Gascoyne - will try to include these alongside the stats because I think these types of clubs deserve a little bit of extra praise)
Extra little tid-bit : the numbers will slightly vary from the table posted earlier - Am basing this off the fixtures/results list for each member federation.

Will admit - this one is a bit weird, due to the fact that some clubs have entered a Junior and Senior side. These will be counted as separate clubs in the numbers.

TBD - but generally across the last week of July + first two weeks of AugustAny ideas when the Rd of 32 starts? The inlaws are over in July-august and I wanna take them to a match
I always try and go to one game per round but I always end up short.I've loved watching these games on 10play over the laast few years. Particularly the grass roots early rounds matches....
Probably the best thing ever to happen to club football in Australia
I'm a big fan of these kind of national cup competition's and I think that perhaps within a few decades the Australia Cup will have a similar resonance here that the FA Cup has had in England and the French Cup has had in France. It's completely unique in Australian sport.I always try and go to one game per round but I always end up short.
Need that optimism though. Just need to go to the games!I'm a big fan of these kind of national cup competition's and I think that perhaps within a few decades the Australia Cup will have a similar resonance here that the FA Cup has had in England and the French Cup has had in France. And yes, I am probably a bit of an optimist about this kind of thing but it just has a great feel about the whole set up.
