A-League Men 24/25 - Round 9

I'm hoping the Nix can bounce back from this slump there in, 3 losers in a row now. Hope we don't become the next Bris roar.

I have always seen Thurgate on the wrong side of the mongrel v thug line.

He has always done dirty fouls in the aleague and may be too much of a disciplinary risk for the national side.

Have not seen much of him this season to comment on his current positive form but have still seen "Thugate" shining through on the negative side.

Put him against our flopping opposition and we are screwed.
He's improved his discipline this season, with only 1 yellow card in 9 games.

Every A-League team should have a violinist play in hot pants in front of the ref before the match starts. Keep thing even like the salary cap.

Round end in a 1-1 draw with Kersey forced to red card Uskok for a clear DOGSO outside the penalty area

I'll admit I don't watch overseas football now, because I don't want to pay more money for access.

I'm sure Perth and Roar fans will disagree, but the AL has improved so much recently in terms of - handling speed of players individually and faster team ball circulation, teams sustaining possession for longer periods, I can't deicide on a best league to go to immediately to play in overseas. Japan, Holland, Switzerland and Belgium are good destinations if good enough and players get minutes.

Going to the UEFA Big Five, or the 30 or so big UEFA clubs in more modest leagues can be too big a step up.

Apart from Miller and Baccus, I believe players stagnate when they go to Scotland. They become better ball winners, but when it comes to first touch, passing and moving in tight spaces, 1v1 dribbling skills, running with the ball, tactical nous, unless they play in the Old Firm , like Rogic and Mooy did, I see little improvement in players playing in Scotland. Popa isn't selecting them like Arnie. Popa is also looking past English League One too.

Re number 8s and 10s - Jake Hollman and Segecic are looking excellent to me in the A L. Jelacic is decent too. The latter could do with playing with a few better players than he currently is.
Agree on segecic and Hollman both look to have potential in that position.

Hopefully Australian coaches continue to trust in young Australian talent, seeing young Eames for the Mariners who is only 16 and looks to be a very promising talent as well.

So you think Miller is actually a player ?

I know that it's important to you to keep up appearances to the contrary however now I know that you're a massive fan of the A League. Kudos to you Loopy.

Loops watches a lot of AL football, given the number of posts he makes about it.

He is quite a passionate A L fan deep down and cares deeply about the Aus domestic league. Loops has come quite a long way since joining Green and Gold FC. Fair play to the lad!

Good to hear about Eames - only being 16.

I was hoping to see Quintal from SFC more involved in actions in the last round too.

From what I’ve seen so far I’ve been impressed with Quintal also, both players are very young though but have got great potential.

I think Nix has a very good coach.

I've heard him interviewed, describing his constantly changing tactical moves after a game. Impressive!
