A-League Mens 24/25 - Round 4

Ufuk Talay yesterday was a ridiculous clown on the line yesterday.

Late in the game a throw in went against them. Him and just about everyone in the technical area went berserk. What a flog.

Way to set an example.

I think he got booked. I hope the did. Fuck these idiots. It was a throw in, not a penalty.

When Rudan went berserk on the sideline last season, Talay was very composed.

I'm quite surprised Talay lost his cool?

I'm at the opposite end, I think the overall standard has regressed a fair bit.

Every team apart from Sydney have looked sub par.

Maybe its early season rust.

Good to see ratings/crowds up. Curious as to why this has been the case?

What I'm seeing in the games I've watched for extended periods. Admittedly, I've mainly viewed both Melbourne teams and their opponents.

*Faster handling speed.

*Better first touches.

*Teams moving the ball more quickly.

*Longer periods in possession and less play in the transitions. Teams seem to be able to possess the ball for sustained periods, without having to work as hard as they did in the past.

*The younger domestic Aussies showing these attributes in spades.

At the half way mark Roar have put in a decent performance against Vic - both off the ball and on the ball. Haven't finished the whole game yet.

I need to have a better look at SFC. They have a very young midfield and defence.

Quintal looks like a very good prospect for Sydney always looking to get on the ball and create, I think he made a bigger impact than most of the starting players for Sydney.
A shame he’s teammates weren’t switched on for the pass that led to the turnover over and goal for the Bulls.
Sydney looked very flat for most of it and the Bulls seem to be their bogey team oddly enough when they play at home.

Also an amazing bycycle kick by Ariol for the Bulls, one of the goals for the season already.
I'm glad you noticed it Braca, but Quintal has something about him, his first touch is better than most & is always looking to create with his dribbling ability, still raw, but we have a real baller here.

Talay lost cool because despite being down to 10 men, after he equalized, he still went for that win. Sydney was on a roll, it backfired on him with result & also his loss of temper was not a good look.

But I like him going for the win.

Glory just could not get their act together. Almost every pressure ball went straight to a City player all night.

Credit to a very professional and smooth City - but Glory could not take a trick. Outplayed and unlucky on the one night is a killer.

'Funny' that they showed Reddy coming out and making a hideous blunder in the halftime show then 30 seconds into the second half Sail comes out and makes a blunder just like it.
The difference is when Reddy made that blunder, Glory was 2 goals up at the time.
When Sail did it, we were already 2 goals down.

Couldn't believe fans were getting excited by the pre season.

All we did was literally sign NPL players along with a couple of nobody foreigners.

The owners are a disgrace.

Perth
Newcastle
And maybe Brisbane they are last but don't look as bad as the other two.. are just making up the numbers. With no relegation is a bit shite and the bye round doesn't help.

I feel like the top six and top two will be decided early this season

Yeah went to the game yesterday and during the game thought to myself this may well be the last game of the season I attend.

We don't even have any half decent young players to get excited about.

I hear you.

The biggest problem is that we have a supposed "leader" in Oli sail who when the shit goes down loses his shit, we lose our shit collectively and then the floodgates open.

I'm green with envy you having an A L team. We don't have an A L team here.

If I was in Perth I'd watch every Glory game. You have a good pitch for playing football too.

I've only watched about 55 mins on the replay, but I thought Roiar looked pretty good against Vic. The Melbourne team scored an excellent goal - against the run of play, but Roar had a lot of ball. They just couldn't convert.

The off the ball work by Roar when Vic had the ball was very good in those 55 mins too. They broke up a lot of Vic attacks high up the pitch.

SFC look pretty composed on the ball.

Impressively, they have a lot of young Aussie players too. Interesting that former Socceroo, Joel King, is a bench sitter ATM?

SFC has some quality young players ATM.

More than not being able to convert i thought we also struggled to create

I think if we can tighten up the defensive lapses we xould be awkward to play, good at keeping possession, good off the ball as you say

There was little creation for all the territory and possession Roar had - against a very good AL team.

When the club has been a mess on and off the field for 13 of the last 15 years, overtime my passion for the club has slowly dwindled.

yer real shame for you mate and how many silent others, must be heaps.

Having a good look at at SFC v Macarthur, the former played some good possession football before Matthews was sent off at close to half time. It is good to watch their system in possession, with quality off the ball movement supporting the SFC ball carrier. This enables fluent and steady build ups, with effective rhythm changes.

Macarthur's play when it was 11 v 11, was more based on accelerated attacks.

I've just read that Jakolic qualifies for Socceroo selection, virtue of his Dad's Aussie heritage. Keeley Adamson at age 21 shows promise at RB for Macarthur.

Despite being sent off, Matthews is a very talented young CB. Segovic continues to develop, as do Courtney-Perkins and Popovic.

Incredible bicycle kick goal for the Bulls!
