A-League Mens 24/25 - Semi Final

Auckland game is sold out!. Not sure what the cap is but id say around 25k

Auckland can't have it so easy winning everything the first season. They have to get revenge next season

I switched on to Auckland v Victory at the 40 minute mark and it was a very good game to watch.

Great intensity by both sides with Victory applying consistent team pressure and Auckland applying their regular fast break pressure.

Edit: Auckland also do build pressure very well too. I see their solid defence resulting in fast breaks as their main method.

Victory with the edge and a fantastic effort by them to take 2 chances and hold firm.

Ref gave Auckland every chance with continuing the last 'minute' of play long after the Victory cramp and stalling time actually added up to and there were so many almost moments for Auckland.

Very tense last 15 minutes but the quality did not drop as such - just Victory tended to choose the long ball to anywhere at times although they really held the ball well in their attacking half when they chose to.

Only Melbourne teams in it now whichever way the last game goes.

I would call Victory deserved winners across the two games and congratulations to them for it. Dead on their feet by the end.

What a game!

Melb Victory know how to get it done in the finals, I’ve predicted it once the finals started they could go on a deep run and could cause an upset as they have done it in the past.

I thought Valadon in the middle of the park was immense, I think Melb victory stepped up tonight especially with how they played they looked a lot more aggressive when going forward.

Auckland would feel disappointed but they have had a great season so they should feel proud, hopefully they can evolve their football as they relied too much on counter attacks and set pieces but they have set a great benchmark for next season.

Good crowd in Auckland of just over 29k, wonder if that can be beaten by the Victorian teams come final day.

I expect 40k+ to the final and would not be surprised at 50k+.

As they advertised at the Cairo Museum - Remains to be seen ;)

Glad the Aussie team won all I’ll say
I am not ashamed to admit I was a bit bothered by the thought of our national comp being decided in New Zealand (assuming Auckland were allowed to host it - I did not pay attention in the lead up).

A Melbourne derby in the grand final it is, maybe fitting which has been quite an open season where anyone could win it this season.

AAMI Park maxes out at just under 30k.
The GF against SFC in 2015 got 29.8k.
Aleague was very different a decade ago though.
First ever Melbourne Derby GF, so you can be assured APL will price gouge. I reckon it will be called a sell-out, but actual attendance will be less than expected. These events skew heavily to the casuals, so you have both the GF novelty and the derby novelty in it's favour.
I'll be out of town, so will be watching on TV.

Thanks someguyjc.

I have never realised that AAMI Park is under 30k - I thought it was at least 50k. A quick glance on Google says 30,050 capacity but that might include toilet seats too. Will obviously take a sell out to top the Auckland game then NoMates.

The speed the tickets sell will be a good indicator of whether they could draw a bigger crowd but looking through the more recent grand final attendances my 40k would be a standout.

Funny that over the history of their consecutive grand final attendances Melbourne City have gone 7k (covid), 14k, 22k, 26k (in Sydney). Not very solid ground to base progression on with covid and the 2023 match being played in Sydney but it could suggest that City may have an increasing following for grand finals in Melbourne.

Victory should be able to bring 30k to the grand final by themselves with the casuals and long suffering supporters getting the chance to see the team back in with a chance at glory.

I am guessing that it will be 30,049 attendance then if someguyjc can't make it.

Gosh active are cringe maybe it's just city's active chanting about how shit western/victory are more then the bloody team we've come to support

It has been notably missing in the NT when the leadership goes. We just spend the 90 talking shit about the opposition.
