How the hell is golf rating? GOLF!?!
Those figures boggle the mind. I'm guessing P+ numbers are excluded.

Haha Guus
Only one of the largest played sports in the world :)
Because we had some stellar Aussie champs playing - a game we do have aussies doing some business in the game and rankings.
The fairways were packed for 4days.

Also - it was on the main channel of 9. Some people just put that on for background noise, not caring what's on (my mother in law for example)

Correct rating don't include streaming numbers.
Golf rates because you have to look at the age of people that watch free-to-air TV. It's pretty much exclusively boomers, gen-x with a handful of the older millennials sprinkled in. That's it. Young people don't watch TV at all and young people especially don't have OzTam boxes installed where they live. Technically only 5250 homes in the entire country have OzTam boxes installed. So, TV ratings are calculated based upon 5250 people that agree to have their viewing habits tracked for no compensation.

Oh I think you get a $20 voucher for something now - I'm sure I got sent an email or saw an ad on FB or something to sign up to it. But then again, I could also be imagining things.

heap of youngies are into golf nowadays someguyfc as well, sure lots of 50+ viewers but I know of plenty early 30's playing the game that also are football players.
The tournaments here have been getting a resurgence last couple of years.
More $$'s, the LIV Adelaide ones are packed with young gens.
Smylie who won is just 22yrs, then you have playing seasoned top global pro's like Cam Smith, Jason Day, Cam Davis, Lucas Herbet, MWLee, <<< these guys are like having your top playing inform Roos to watch "live"......
We luv sport especially when you can see top players.
Bet the 5pm Vegas F1 got good numbers as well.

A-League didn't rate Friday night, falling under the 20k threshold, meanwhile =

One of the problems that the A League franchise competition has as a tv product in Australia is perception wise it's very much an inferior competition in terms of the sport. And sports fans in Australia don't really rate it or care about it.

The NRL is widely regarded the best Rugby League competition the world. The AFL is regarded as the best in the world in terms of its sport even though it's only played professionally in Australia, So Australian sports fans still see it as the best of the best. The Super Rugby competition is regarded as one of the best Rugby competitions in the world.

So even though these 3 other 'football' codes are completely small time in comparison to football in world terms, Australian sports fans, the majority of which are a little unworldly still regard them as being the best of the best...

The A League franchise competition wouldn't be in the world's top 50 soccer competitions, maybe not in the top 100....

Perception is everything in how people see things.

So it's probably a little unfair to pick holes in the A League franchise competition's non existent TV ratings before considering it's perception as a non event amongst the dinki di Aussie sports fan.....

The 1st round of ALM matches got just above 150,000 views on FTA then by round 3rd dropped off to around 130,000. By the 4th round it dropped %70 to 56,000 and this last round which only had 1 FTA game dropped to 40k.
The APL need FTA games to do well for the sake of revenue for the next TV deal, but when you clubs like Brisbane playing no one is gonna watch.

You've been talking about it on forums for many many years...if only they could get the fairweather fans to keep coming back like you do.

Never a truer word spoken....

But it's not just about that absurd pile of wank Brisbane Roar franchise. More the fact that in Australia apart from the national teams, football or soccer as the majority will call it, is a niche level professional spectator sport. Both in terms of bums on seats or bums on sofa's!!

Always has been, always will be....
