ALM TV Ratings

are the ratings doing better or worse than last season?
Because of the Saturday double header on FTA CH10 the ratings have improved, however there has been a 75% drop from the 1st round (Over 150k) to round 7 only 40k). But to be fair there was only 1 FTA game being shown (Auk vs Wel) on CH10.
The new rating system only shows Views of 40k and above where as last year the threshold was 20k, So mostly last year we only got about 23k watching Saturdays games and nonexistence ratings for the Sunday matches - in fact last year the Sunday matches didn't rate at all so i guess that's why the APL and the networks moved to two games on Saturday. So the new ratings count the viewing over both matches for Saturday as one viewed TV rating, Which has helped.

is it measured differently to 10 years ago. We used to get 100k pretty regularly on foxtel

The 1st round of ALM matches got just above 150,000 views on FTA then by round 3rd dropped off to around 130,000. By the 4th round it dropped %70 to 56,000 and this last round which only had 1 FTA game dropped to 40k.
The APL need FTA games to do well for the sake of revenue for the next TV deal, but when you clubs like Brisbane playing no one is gonna watch.

I was going to say that the figures seem dependent on the clubs in the matches broadcast, no one wants to watch a dud. But damn, that figure from last weekend, the Kiwi derby should've had people tuning in, unless they are completely unaware of their quality this season.

I know that number is FTA only and doesn't include P+, but it's still piss poor unfortunately.

Yeah back in the Foxtel days we had ratings on every match and would get over 150k almost every match even when they had the 1 FTA game with SBS it rated over 100k but SBS dropped it to its 2nd channel as that was considered poor ratings. How times have changed.

What the heck changed, 1 third of what it was is really bleak

Its a strange one. People would say we need big names in the League but that failed and then said the quality of football being played but the last 4 years we have seen better football then ever. What i think it was is that Foxtel had a lot of sports on there network and a lot of sport fans that watched everything. Plus Foxtel new how to promote the A-League. The only big numbers we get now ratings wise for football matches is from the Socceroo's and Matilda's.

When I open the channel ten site I am immediately greated with a popup screen asking if I want reminders about nbl matches. Why can't the a league have that

Tripled from last week. Shame they saw that appalling display by Brisbane.

Paramount is a niche streaming service & Channel 10 is a low rating network in general. The product is essentially hidden from view on the whole.

Would anyone like to take a stab at who will be the broadcaster for the A League franchise competition once the current 10BOLD/P+'s contract finishes?
