The reasoning of wanting to watch the 'best players' does not work once you realise that, particularly for the NRL, the so called 'best players' comes from such a small pool of people that play the sport. Making the Socceroos team is, for a footballer, significantly more difficult than making the NRL for a rugby league player.

What really occurs is the media focus on their favourite sports and talk up the quality well beyond what it actually is. For example, the constant use of the word "star" before a players name . It comes back to media. It is the very reason why those in the sports leadership positions need to be very well connected and the Socceroos / Matilda's / A-League's to have a strong media partner (which they do not at the moment).

Don't think you can blame the media it's just how people are wired they want to see the best it's why the big mainstream singers sell out stadiums while nobody goes to see your cousins band at the local pub.

Perfect analogy mate... Even though your cousin's band may very well be 100% more talented and better musicians, the consumers will still flock to the arena to watch some footballers girlfriend in hot pants... just so they can be part of the crowd... I think Aleague should go all in for tik tok players and social media stunts...

Happy for Victory to have her. You might think she is great - but the Grand Final was a home Grand Final for the Central Coast Mariners. Why was the APL catering for the away team and not the home team!!

pj, do you know IF CCM made an issue of that pre game ?
Did Charlesworth make noise ?
I'm with you but I'm sure it would have been classified as pre game entertainment as the out clause.

I don't know - the APL runs the Grand Final - but it was a pretty poor effort by the APL.

oh no doubt they do no diff to any governing bod and obviously they must have considered being you guys had home turf lets balance the ledger allowing the MV broad with the violin entertain :)
MCG ofcourse that was PJ's point - it should be considered neutral for a GF though as mentioned playing at your home turf sure isn't.
