I suggest that there is a direct correlation between the visual effect of a decent crowd and the aural effect of noise coming into play here. It is not just the teams - the whole experience has more energy and a sense that something is at stake. I may get some flack for fronting up here and saying that I no longer watch Brisbane home games, MacArthur home games, Melbourne City home games, or Western United home games. The endless empty seats are simply depressing and there is no sense of urgency or atmosphere. It literally looks like noone cares, and, to be direct, that's because hardly anyone does. Certainly not enough to go to a game. Brisbane, MC, WU, and Bulls games look terrible on tv. They bring the whole League down.

Brisbane because of appalling ownership and management.
Bulls and WU because they should never have been admitted to the League until some future point they were viable.
City because CFG have no interest and as an organisation are on the nose for many people.

None of these are fixable in the current status quo.

I understand your position but I watch every game, if I'm home. I want the league to survive and prosper.

I want the game to survive and prosper, including the new second tier and the eventual unification of the full pyramid.

Part of the problem is the marketing and the visibility - many of the games are really entertaining and the recent infusion of youth has given the league (and Oz football generally) a shot in the arm that makes it pretty compelling.

I enjoy every match but in the end you have to acknowledge that I'm a weirdo for liking it, much like supporters back in the nsl days are weirdos haha

I think if we want more weirdos we need to increase the participation base, quadruple it
 
we're all weird I suppose for we all luv the game together but look at it through many different eyes/visions.
I grew up playing grassroots P/R only, no finales - and obviously grew up watching the blessed 1 hour English Div 1 Sunday highlights and FACup final.
Therefore P/R was in my heart like europe though we had to suck up to the ways here and introduce Finals and the NSL had its struggles being accepted despite some epic ethnic/wog crowds here and there.
It just couldn't get over that line due to so many things as known and its funny the new dawn Pro league has had many similar probs post honeymoon.
Put aside the blind sided bitters I like many did try and get behind the new league more so to influence my 3 kids who naturally became/are footballers.
The wog in us chanted to ADP - that was the high then it died.
I've kept playing as do my boys and we also keep attending NPL games we just can't get into AL, our game is P/R, relo battles are as intoxicating as top end battles, I wish for the game to be open for all, I can't admire the mid to bottom who go through the motions for nothing and go again next season.
Its just BS.
Then a winning Club after all its hard work is skinned of its core players - more BS.
The mention of small crowds reminds me of the dirty banter people play re the NSL, look whos talking.
Its sad for I really am dying for our game to live up to its proper recognition it should have, at least we have a Pro model front cover but not the complete book many of us behind the scenes care for..

With poor ratings like this week i wonder just how the next TV deals goes with Super Rugby and the A-League next year. Rugbys set to get around $500m over four years for there next TV where as people are saying the A-League will likely to get a mere $250 over 5 years.
Just shows you how much the ball has dropped since leaving Foxtel.

50 a year sounds pretty brilliant tho? That's enough to cover the salary cap and then some. Surely we get way less than that?

That number might change if DAZN gets involved.

As for Rugby… really? I didn’t even know their season started. Wasn’t the Melbourne team booted?

I really can't say TSF, I'm not invested in that game as well but that it was mentioned in the previous posts.
The game went right down and lost alot of value few years back so I suppose to them its small climb back up.
If it has any synergies to the next APL deal as NoMates questioned is that, who knows.
 
On average the FTA TV figures have been quite good most of the times way better then last season but then we have had rounds where the games didn't rate at all. Crowd wise its been good and is getting better but main concern is will this drive up the value for next years TV deal. If Rugby can get decent coin for there games why cant the APL? $300m over 4 years should be our goal.
