This is 100% as it should be... But after putting 20 years of your support into Sydney FC wouldn't it be an absolute crime if your club dissolved over night because of the franchise model under it?
It would be very sad & I like I said I feel for you & it's a real shame.

What would I do, yeah be devastated, but I would probably go back to how I followed football in the country before the A-League, like I follow English/European football. I like football, so I would just watch the games in Europe but no stake in it. Like you I have no feelings for PSG, but then I have none for Barca, Real Madrid, Bayern, Liverpool & Man City (all just money clubs). I just watch the best players play & admire them.
Here I would just follow the Socceroos & watch whatever the alternative to A-League with no stake in it, just watch for possible socceroos playing.

While I may critic the administration of the top tier of football, I wouldn't bag the players, the fans or the club (franchise club, ethnic club) who are all football fans.

While I criticised the NSL for its poor administration, I never bagged its players or clubs (just not for me).

Bag the players?? Are you saying I did that? Even the fans to be honest, I might call them plastic but thats more in response to be being called "effnikz" than anything else.

As for the franchises (Sorry I cant call them clubs when they themselves self identify as franchises and treat the sport as such) I don't really care either way... I just cant follow football like you thats all, we differ in that while yes I also admire many players and clubs from all around the world my MAIN engagement of football is THROUGH my own local club.... IF Hellas folded tomorrow I would be absolutely shattered and nothing could replace it. Yes I also lilke watching a "pretty match" with fine players and great play but, even from overseas league I have a favourite team to follow (Liverpool, Napoli, Barce, Benfica etc etc) but thats just so I can engage with the league and the competition, not that I have a life long commitment to them or anything silly like that from across the world... We each follow football in our own way and my isn't better (or worse) than yours.

Some people watch the same match 17 times and take notes on player possesions and formations and xG and all that guff.
Others watch their favourite players regardless of what team or league they are in
Some just pick an overseas league and team so they can engage online
SOme casual fans come along purely for the spectacle and sighsta nd sounds of a large passionate fan base.
Others follow whatever interesting competition is on.

I follow my club first and foremost..... everything else is a passing fancy.

thats all, simples :)

You know exactly what my point is.
Im sorry I really don't get what you are trying to say? Why don't you dumb it down for simple old me?

Are you saying that an Australian football club founded as a merger between two Greek migrant park teams and an existing Anglo-Australian state league team should play in a foreign competition?

Are Ajax Amsterdam Dutch? Is Glasgow Celtic Irish? Are OM French? Are the many Spartak's and Hercules's around the world NOT where they say they are from?

Im not sure I follow?

Celtic are Scottish BTW, they only think they are Irish. Sounds familiar.

You asked what I'd do if SFC folded, I answered you what I do.

Yes it's pretty clear we follow football differently & that's fine by me & I'm sure that is fine by you too. I love Ronaldo, but don't hate Messi, think they are both so enjoyable to watch. I Love SFC but don't hate WSW.
But if you come in swinging, bagging SFC or Football in the last 20 years in this country, I will defend it. Not saying you are wrong but I defend my club & my players.

Is that YOU telling them what they are or is that something the Celtic fanbase decided on their own?

And thats NOT a full answer btw?
Well, a club founded in Glasgow, should and is Scottish, but they fuckers will clearly tell you that they are Irish, except when you mention the European cup, when all of a sudden, they are British. The majority of them, like 90% are born and bred in Scotland but claim to be Irish.
I don't get people who are born and raised and still stay in a country, that claim to be something else.

????? What do you think I have been watching for the last 20 years in this country another sport? I dont follow your logic.

As for bagging your players? Like who man? Seriously again I dont know what you are defending.

Ronaldo maybe? OK sure I just dont like the bloke (but admit he is an extremely talented player and had a good carrer) but he is one player, its got nothing to do with where he is from or where he played, he could line up in a Hellas jersey and I wouldn't like him still? Whats your point?

That really interesting, a couple of years ago we hosted a whole bunch of Celtic fans at a South match and they were all unashamedly Scottish.. You SURE thats not your preconceived bias?

No, not at all. Check how many Irish flags are at their games, then all the singing about the IRA. The ex-pats will tell you different, but the cunts in Glasgow will tell you differently again.

Fair enough, you would know better than I would.... so about the rest of my question?

I'm not talking about you specifically, but generally if people come to critic something I enjoy.

Why do you shout for a foreign country? (Hellas)

You can say " nickname" all you like, but we all know what it means.

I don't really care a fuck who you shout for, or whatever foreign land, but don't pretend to be an Aussie only when it suits you, or your agenda.

Tell the truth here, You, supported Hellas when they played Australia at the MCG, didn't you? No lies , now !

Why do you shout for a foreign country? (Hellas) -
There arent any "H" sounds in the Greek alphabet as far as I know and I am a fluent Greek speaker.... the word in Greek is Ellas (sorry don't know how to type in Greek characters on this forum for ya)

You can say " nickname" all you like, but we all know what it means. -
So if you ALL KNOW then why even pretend engaging in a conversation? You've clearly made up your little mind what YOU think my club represents and thats all there will ever be to the matter in that closed off mind of yours... Going around the place telling people who they are are or are not... Disgraceful behaviour if you ask me. Lucky for all of us that racist mindset is dying off in this country and we can all move forward and celebrate our Australian-ness without worrying about what the bigots think.

I don't really care a fuck who you shout for, or whatever foreign land, but don't pretend to be an Aussie only when it suits you, or your agenda. -
Well, like I said, who gives a fuck what a foreigner thinks? MY passport, birth certificate, drivers license, medicare card, electoral roll entry etc etc all show that I am a proud Australian citizen ... do yours?

Tell the truth here, You, supported Hellas when they played Australia at the MCG, didn't you? No lies , now !
NOPE, as Ive mentioned many a time here I bought myself, my son and my dad a half and half Ellas and Australia scarf (the ONLY one I would ever own btw) and proudly sung both national anthems and cheered both squads on in a friendly match in front of a monster crowd. If you choose to not beleive me based on tour extensive knowledge of my character then .... give a fuck I suppose.
