So the MLS teams are starting their preseason games before their season kicks off in a month.

Looks like yazbek started for Nashville. Bovalina played second half for Vancouver. JGR and Brook didn't feature however they may not be back yet. Kye Rowles likely not ready to play for DC United.

This what I say whenever someone on Reddit or somewhere talks about how we are so worse today than in the past etc.

I remember those dark days at the end of Holgers reign when we were lucky to scrape a starting lineup of players who had played outside Australia and most were old guys in the middle east.

Kind of hard to get an answer from english or Scottish fans when their teams lose. Very emotional.

From the short bits I saw Matthews didn't look out of place. He has mixed reviews on twitter and their forums.

Waddingham didn't get to do much. Millwall had a really tight deep block and crowded out the forwards. Portsmouth just resorted to bombing down the left and trying to get crosses in or just smashing it into the box. Very scrappy game.
 
I think if you were harsh you could say Matthews was at fault for the goal, lost his man who broke away on a great through ball to score.
 
watched the game but was a bit exhausted from work to summarize

- looked much better in distribution with him. He also has a pretty decent passing range that i didn't see in the a league much
- around the 4th minute he was indecisive about either supporting his fullback inside the pen area or backing away to deal with the cross. Got caught in no man's land which nearly resulted in a goal
-surprisingly strong in aerial duels since this was a weakness in the a league
-most blame the wayward pass for the goal. The through ball was instantly after and Matthews was in a position to recieve a pass, so not really his fault. Showed good speed to get goal side and close the gap. Could he have made a diving block? Probably not. A pompey fan said his top speed wasn't quick enough, so what do i know complimenting his speed :D
