Enjoyable game to watch and a terrific result. Our boys were the better team for the most part though it was good to see both teams playing attacking football.Okon-Elser is an outstanding player -very poised with the ball at his feet, able to take on and beat opponents and a very good passer of the ball.Bennie,Jovanic ,Toure,Badolato and Hall were all very good and indeed all players did well.

It was good to see all the penalty takers looked confident and nailed them in the shootout.

Great win!

Particularly in light of all the eligible players not selected, or not released by their clubs.

To think that Eames, Leonard, Walatee, De Pizio, Kane Vidmar, Bosinovski, Lauton, ( the last three too old?), De Jesus, Youlley et al, were not in China, shows we have depth in this age cohort.

Eames, Walatee, Leonard and Youlley would have walked into that team.

All 4 games I watched were close fought contests and the Aussies had a bit of luck. That is apart from when Aus blew China away in the first half.

The pleasing phenomenon was the style of play. Aus maintained the ball well under pressure in the attacking half. They also played out well.

I d love to get most of th e team in the gym to do Bench Presses, Squats, Overhead Presses, Incline Bench Presses and Lat Pull Downs to put on some muscle! A lot of them are a bit puny. A number of attacking players were outmuscled a lot. Not Toure and Jovanovic.
Get them some Sumo training in there as well. And no I am not joking. One of the key skills in Sumo is maintaining balance so they actually have training exercises to do just that. So it would not matter so much physical weight but the ability to keep your balance during the charge. And believe me, when Sumo wrestlers charge, you wouldn't want to be on the receiving end.

I wouldn't put any of those players near this team, they stuck there noses up at joining the squad as if there were to good to play in it so why reward them with a world cup spot if they think there $hit don't stink?

What a strange assumption? Probably in every situation the clubs would've been the ones who didn't release the players. A-League players wouldn't be turning down the team. Similar situation for the overseas players like Irankunda, Youlley, Younis and Waddingham. It's stupid though, we want to go into the WC with our strongest team because with our best we can make a big run. Irankunda will be one of the best players at the tournament.

What does Irankunda bring to the table that the AFC cup winning team doesn't already have? Sure you could pull them off the bench however the current squad is not lacking anything special that Irankunda would bring to the table.

I imagine it will be a tough call for Trevor Morgan as I think a few international players especially will be pushing for selection.

Pavlesic, irankunda, waddingham and Youlley being the main ones. Irankunda might get included in the Socceroos so may not go to the world cup but I think in terms of other players there will be a few who will getting an unfortunate call.

Oh come on. Despite the win there were two glaring things for me. Silliness at the back in build up so Leonard would be better and out wide there were slow indecisive moments. Irankunda is miles ahead.

Kikianis shifting to CB was a slight error as Lisolajski was ineffective. Bennie is a RB mainstay but De Jesus can add and we should put Bennie at RW and Irankunda on the left. Add some of the midfielder a missing and it's a bit sharper. It's more the less used bench players will make way.

At least we qualified for the world cup this time. I think here we still named a very good squad unlike that Olympics fiasco. That was truly appalling.

Graham Arnold said this too that our young players need to get in the gym

do a league clubs not require this of their youngsters?
A league clubs should try and build gyms as an extra revenue source and a way to develop players

our players always look scrawny the first two years they move to europe

Beenie has really beefed up since going to QPR. Skill and smarts aside, 2 things, muscle and sport psychology are needed.

Is Leonard better then kiki or espisto?

Love the pictures of the scenes at the end, great stuff.

Shoutout to channel 10, they did a great job mentioning the game unlike other media outlets, they got to do better as a country.
