How's the nepotism picking Kane Vidmar over Leonard!!! He's played 76 mins in 3 months, compared to Leonard who's played 90 mins for all but 1 game this season & is one of the best CBs in the comp
it seems there are no 2005 or younger players for some reason. Leonard is a big loss tbh

I get that, but there's no excuse, as Leonard wasn't picked for the Young Socceroos either?!!! Pick someone like Bonetig then, not someone that's hardly played!!!

This squad is totally baffling, only one overseas based player in the squad and not picking the likes of Botic and Goodwin over a striker who can’t get a game at Perth Glory.
Also picking he’s kid who can’t get a game at Western United over someone like Bonetig who is doing very well for WSW.

The only thing I can think is they want him to be a part of the young Socceroos squad cohort and maybe they want to give older cohorts a chance to impress the national team coaches.

I think the squad is just being picked from the age bracket 20 (whatever the cut off day is for U20 eligibility) to 23.

That means a bunch fall out including the U20s and Leonard who is U17.

The guys that are in that age group and haven't been picked I reckon will be in senior contention; Botic, Goodwin, Drew etc.

The one that absolutely blows my mind is Toure not being picked for the seniors when those others appear to be in with a shout.

The senior squad will be interesting, see if that theory pans out.

Botic is a possibility but this u22 squad has no players born 2002 or later

It seems that all these Gulf facilities allow our youth teams to get more games and camps. I welcome it.

I hope the FA have a hand in it to that we seem to at least have had a lot more regular squad meet ups over the last 5 years. Seeing the players listed regularly is good for cohesion.

We used to play a ton of games in the 90s

In the a league era we have gotten rid of the ais, youth tours, the nyl and until recently, underage teams for clubs in the national comp

Australian U-23s Head Coach, Tony Vidmar has been required to make changes to his squad for the upcoming Doha International U-23 Cup.

Anthony Pavlesic, Jed Drew and Sebastian Esposito all come in, replacing Patrick Beach, Kasey Bos and Mohamed Toure.

Concerned it's saying Toure is injured. Hopefully it's just general soreness and a need to rest.
on the plus side his injury makes the most egregious non selection a non-issue (the 2nd most being irankunda)
