Big Ange thread

Kudus, MGW & potentially Wharton/Baleba. Wow Daniel is backing Frank that’s for sure.

Ange in the meantime is sitting on his hands. Can’t see him relocating to LA but stranger things have happened.

the longer you're out of the game the harder it is to get work

if MLS is the best that's on offer he would be wise to take it

Quite literally the opposite happened to Ange after he lost his U17 role with the NT setup.

Don’t think that necessarily holds true. The issue for Ange is age isn’t on his side.

Very few clubs in Europe are willing to punt on a 60 year old Manager.

They want 40’something coaches with fresh ideas.

are you comparing the LOL A-league with serious professional football?

Ange went to the media after he left the NT and made a reputation for himself there, that was enough to be picked up by one of the tin pot franchises

Graham Potter?

I mean there’s countless examples of managers who’ve taken long time off and came back.

Your theory doesn’t hold water. Try again.

This...

European top level football - no country for old men....

Although having said that the most sought after football coach in the world right now is PSG's Luis Enrique aged 55....

Don’t think age comes into it generally…..
Money and resume - sure more younger ones but there is 50/55+ gaffas all over the shop.
Ancelloti is a grand father age wise only now finished with RM.
Klopp 58.
Pep 54.
Poch 53
Conte 55

the game has evolved beyond rigid systems in the last few years

even Pep will be regarded as a dinosaur soon if he doesn't evolve with it

Here's my take....

I think that Thomas Frank is a very good technically competent coach yet pragmatism is paramount to his line of football philosophy.

He'll eventually improve Tottenham in terms of their ongoing vulnerability but what you'll get is more than likely a better version of Brentford. And of course better finances means better players so Tottenham are probably going to finish higher than their fellow Londoners....

But I doubt Tottenham will win much under Frank and Daniel Levy will eventually tire of him and someone else will be flavour of the month in a couple of seasons.

With Ange Postecoglou the football might be a touch 'harem scarem' but there's always that chance that you can win a trophy. He's proven himself in that respect over and over again.

I think that initially Tottenham fans will be happy with Thomas Frank but the football entertainment aspect, or lack of might sully the mood as time rolls on. We will have to see.

The revisionist history of Postecoglou’s time at Spurs will certainly be a topic of discussion for sure....

I have to admit though I like Ange Postecoglou. Maybe not so much as a manager but more as a human being. I tend to think he's an absolute diamond of a bloke.

In fairness PSG hadn't trained since the CWC, I read not even 2wks prep leading into this game.
So boowhoo Spurs doing the Spursy - as Enrique quoted post game they didn't deserve to win and if there was ever a game Spurs to win was this being 2up in the first place.
Levy has opened up the purse strings a little, I'll give Frank the rope needs time getting the team together and like Ange losing a key player like Kane Frank has lost Son another key member of the squad last 10yrs.
I wish them well but all I see is struggle street.

I heard PSG has 6 days to prepare for the game.

It's so strange speaking of another manager in the Ange thread about a team he no longer coaches.

The long shadow of the Europa League will be cast over Frank this season if they don't win anything. Particularly if they are on their way to picking up Savinho & Eze in the run-in to the close of the transfer window.

If Frank is backed with Kudus, Palinha, Eze & Savinho, then there's little room for excuses.
