Canberra fc

The original plan with this group was to have the members vote on the team colours and name. I'd be very surprised if a team would not go with Canberra United given the history with the ALW team. However, I kind of want something different to another United in the ALM.

Canberra FC is kind of out of the question given Canberra Croatia played with the name for quite some time.

Personally I love the idea of going with something a bit unique an unusual but I know it would not be everyone's cup of tea. I would choose something like Canberra Griffins FC. We can build an identity around the griffin but it would also be a nod to Canberra's designers Walter Burley Griffin and his wife Marion Mahony Griffin.

Either Canberra got a specific backer for the womens, or there's actually some meat on the investor bone for the full franchise.
 
NCB, say Canbra does get a Franchise owner for the NPL, do you really think its a stayer down there say 5seasons onwards ?
Crowd avg's ? any stab in the dark ?

I'm going to say - hypothetically, 5 seasons down the track, languishing in that 7th-8th spot every season (so, not making finals, but not the whipping boys), I am going to guess a 4-5k avg crowd.

Going to base that off what I call the "1 third" rule - on face value, it appears to me that ALW gets about 1 third of the relevant mens crowd. Canberra average roughly 1500 (last season)

Therefore considering the APL costs - would they be playing at Canberra Stad ? 25k max.
Or another venue ?
By that avg crowd figure that I suspected at most this is NST territory at less cost.
Wouldn't that make more sense ?

Canberra , Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and even a second Brisbane team would be better off starting in the second division.
Tbh I think franchises are done.

Well.. like I said, depends on the success. A successful team would mean they have to play out of Canberra Stadium. McKellar Park or Deakin Stadium would be the only other options for something smaller/NST sized

I think l means that just quoting the areas if Iā€™m on the money.
Agree we got Clubs with support and meeting standards can fill those places.

I do hope franchiseā€™s are done sorry to those devotees that are not enough in any case.
