Chronicles of a stable genius - all the biggliest stuff

I'm putting my skirt on in celebration. Trump is legend. Turning the world around him left whilst sinking the Septic economy. I couldn't have dreamed for a better situation.
Would’ve preferred he didn’t shit his pants and get out manouvered straight away by the Chinese on tariffs though. Would’ve been nice to see that chaos a little longer

It's been interesting watching all this go down over the past few months particularly related to trade and tariffs.

Putting aside Trump for a minute it's a worry that the system that's been put in place can be so easily manipulated to produce an outcome and no measurable change.

I think the average bloke can agree that whilst globalisation has produced shit tons of cheap stuff for consumers it's in reality funneled a fuck ton of wealth up. There's no doubt, in my mind anyway, that the system could be tweaked to produce better, across the board, outcomes.

Trump said I want to do XYZ, because a world power shouldn't be over reliant on a third party, and China just said fuck you. Started selling bonds and stopped buying US debt and the whole thing just folded within a week.

If China can fuck America up so easily imagine how much they could trash our economy. We got a little taster when Scomo said they should have a inquiry into the origins of COVID.

So yeah I'm laughing at how Trump got his arse handed to him but it's definitely a worry about how easily China can wield economic power.

Absolutely agree with this. I don't think it was unreasonable to demand an enquiry into the origins of COVID and Chyna got super butthurt about it.

Don't worry, China's little issues at the moment make me no less happy. They can get it too, as long as we seize the initiative. All of these players dropping the ball only makes me smile if we can benefit our own.

Its a cautionary tale of why common trade markets like BRICS and EEC have a more conservative growth outcome to isolationist economies like ours and the US. Trump has been poorly advised by his financial backers, devaluing the dollar AND having the world continue to use it as the currency of global trade are mutually exclusive things, no matter how "GREAT" he thinks they are....

Just like every empire since man first picked up a rock and threw it at his neighbour, greed gets them in the end.

We are NOT in any real position to seize any initiative now though THATS the problem... We are in between a rock and a really hard place.... traditional alliances have dissolved overnight thanks to a bunch of religious quacks and a handful of incredibly rich "boardrooms" in the US. The world is about to become a lot larger, full of many small, regional "fiefdoms" we, as a nation, really need to decide who we align with over the next 2-3 decades..... at least thats my take on things.

Yes, and the funny thing is - the general nature of whatever Trump's plan was is highly beneficial, but just not for the reasons he was doing it. Local production, small footprint, and stronger localised industry/wealth/workforce is good

Problem is tight arses think everything should be cheap.

There is a clear reason why China spent 5 decades "creating" a middle class out of virtual thin air....

And that clarifies one of the reasons for the current situation. What China carefully planned and created over 5 decades, Trump in his own narcissistic, uneducated, arrogant, undisciplined (plus many other adjectives) way tried to reverse literally overnight, thinking (as usual) that he knows everything and can do anything. Reducing the influence that China has on the world economy should be a target, but it can never be achieved overnight and certainly not by someone like Trump.

His only skill with 'negotiating' appears to be threats or bullying. Not going to work when you play against the big boys.

No he signed a presidential decree today (number 13,457 I believe) insisting that ALL truck drivers can only speak in English ... you know, really important stuff...... :)
Small government! FMD

So what are they going to do, get police to conduct english tests? That will then have to be tested in courts if disputed.

Sounds like a great use of resources - DOGE!

you think this is winning?

They had to find some way to rob pockets of the most vulnerable. Via the means of pension funds, insurance and levies, here comes the eating away at any nest egg people have amassed. Happening in Germany too with the smugness that every person can simply take on a 30k loan for a heat pump.
