I used Google Maps to ascertain that:

- distance to Grozny from interior Ukraine, about 500 km.

- distance to Moscow from interior Ukraine, about 500 km.

Me thinks Ukraine is sending Putin a message - that they can do this against Moscow. i.e. don't need U.S. permission to use U.S. missiles against Russian territory.

No small fry either - was chief of Russia's Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Unit

This was personal as there are claims and there appears strong evidence of Chemcical weapons against ukrainians
