English Premier League 🦁

Yer he’s been a great forward and loyal servant - not many like him anymore.

Got to say the history of Goodison is epic more so how LFC came to be šŸ˜„
Last couple of games I have watched for the derbies have been some of the biggest games in the league calender.
This is good brief for those not knowing much of the background
and for the young uns how Everton/LFC soon after came to be :
It's a move that brings to an end a footballing story that began almost 133 years ago.

As Evertonians are quick to point out, it's their club, not Liverpool, that builds stadiums in the city.

The first was their original home, Anfield, developed by the club in the 1880s. Everton were the first English champions based at the ground, in 1890-91.

Were it not for local brewer John Houlding, then Everton's president, they would likely still be there.

A man fond of the bottom line and seeing a way to marry his twin loves of football and making money, Houlding acquired the Anfield land from previous owners, the Orrell brothers, and doubled the rent.

In response, a venomous anti-Houlding faction formed, led by board member George Mahon. Civil war broke out.

Mahon suggested moving to Mere Green Field, a patch of land on the other side of Stanley Park, off Goodison Road.

"When the idea of relocation was put to the members, it was overwhelmingly endorsed," says Tony Onslow of the Everton Heritage Society.

As for Houlding, he went on to found Liverpool."

I felt the same "nostalgic" feelings when Spurs moved from White Heart Lane - I have been to games there a few times due to no1 son backing them bah hum bug haha
These long time grounds are the heart and soul of Clubs but money is money they got to move on due to that, make more, bigger crowd revenue.
I don't think it recovers the same feelings new grounds, same for Arsenal another.
So glad Anfield has been able to go through improvements and Kirby.

This was regards to the Toffs last game at Goodison over the weekend.

Haha Rooney, yes you are a turn coat scouser, glad they served it up to you whilst parading amongst other Toff legends.
One importantly is our own Timmy who is luved deeply.
This is what we miss re having a key player doing the business in top flight.
Christ he done damn well - how many games I watched in fear against him and yet deep down thought good on you mate.
He played 12 league games against LFC, scored 5, W 3, D 2, L 7 :p yellows 4 red 1.

Yes can’t deny his last 10yrs have been epic sadly with city but what a role model of the modern day footballer.
No whinging play acting much that I recall.
Just gets on with the game and what a game he brings to the table.
Even had a soft spot for that Belgium golden gen to win a major

hey thats coming from there ground speaker and rightly so to them for the send off.....
He's good damn good but we all know the pecking order.

Even though I don't know much of them and that they hardly won anything for decades I can't really recall many players of way way back before my young times for they hardly punched up the ladder.
Modern times absolutely they have had some epic players.
David Silva ranks massive, there's this Colin Bell they talk off as a Legend from the early 60's.
Then you got Aguero/Fernandinho look at their stats.
Below Top 50 but check top 10, 6 are modern day.

OK so the season has 1 last game to go......
What a season and some have said its all the usual suspects.
Its been a great season - pretty obvious on my part how I feel but so many clubs have lifted.
Some great football stories.
Forest just wow, knocking the Europe door, cliff hanger last game vs Chelsea.
Villa, Emery doing a stellar job.
Palace, FACup and Europe after donkeys years.
Toon, League Cup winners after donkeys years and Top 4.
Spurs Europa winners CL next season.
Brighton, Brentford and Bournemouth all have an outside chance of qualifying for Europe - but need Chelsea to win the Conference League and finish seventh in the Premier League
United now in disarray - debt, no extra funds coming in but for owners openning the pockets, finish 16/17, coach on tender hooks, how will they trade through the summer and who decent enough would go there with NO europe games.
Leeds back up.
Wrexham to Championship.
Football just luv it.

Aston Villa has come a long way. 6 years ago we were a rabble and now we are regularly qualifying for the Europa League and the Champions League. Last game against the joke that is Man United was disappointing and losing and losing Champions League qualification but easy come, easy go.

Well you’ve done it well for 2 seasons which is damn great I like seeing a club as such punching up there finally.
Need a more consistent scorer than Watkins.
His strike rate isn’t the standard you need.
Agree put aside the bs var and ref you should not lose to that rabble nowadays - I was pissed as well.
Onwards and forwards hope they buy smart.

EPL fixtures out. Spurs with a relatively light first 3 months then a tough November. Frank to have a decent start.

Burnley have a rough first few months. They're really going to have to get some early points then make a good dash over Christmas.

One thing to note as well from the Premier League fixture release is no Boxing Day football for season 2025-26, but we do get games on the Saturday, December 27th instead.
