Members discussion

I've noticed a lot more discussion in NPL game threads, and the Aus Cup involving NPL teams. I think in the past forums like IS and 442 had reduced traffic in a supposed off season in Aus in between AL seasons.

Sadly, I rarely watch any AL football live, now WSW have stopped playing games in Tas, but I get to watch plenty of Tas NPL games live. I'm hoping the interest in NPL games will continue to grow. Again I thank Beretta for starting the NPL thread.

If approached in person, I see huge potential for the Fan View section, where new posters can write articles about their own clubs they follow, or play for. Once they do this, they should attract more fans and players from their own NPL and suburban clubs who want to read those articles on a national forum.

Also, on the G and G podcast recently featuring Tom Byer, he is a pretty big name in world football, particularly in coaching circles and those in the loop. His status has increased because Japan has improved so much. Having Tom Byer on a G and G podcast is a big feather in the cap for this forum.
Would love to hear a fanview from yourself and another from mono!

442 was pretty busy when the articles were linked to the forum. There were a lot of posters on 442 then. Recruitment was constant.

I've noticed nobody has put their hands up to try and recruit G and G members at NPL games.
If you go to a football match and you talk in person you don't really need a forum though?

A prospective new member, just got in touch with me and is worried about having to put his birth date down. I can't even remember doing this when I joined?

You need to get cracking on some book reviews, Mono!

I've been talking 4 of you up, anonymously, as posting profound reviews! They will see too many of my mundane reviews!
Work is keeping me flat chat at the moment, football too ... haven't read anything worth reviewing for a few months now.... will try.

Thanks for passing this on. A date of birth is required when registering so the system can confirm members meet the minimum age requirement of 13 years.

This information is only used internally for verification and members can choose to hide their DOB in account details.

We value member privacy, and all personal information is handled securely 😊

Thanks for clarifying this, P.

Do you have an email address he can contact you privately, him not being a current member? Other than this issue, I think he will join G and G. He is also coming from a huge forum that is impersonal.

I have 3 other potential recruits starting to lurk too. I just can't get approval from Admin to publicly advertise G and G on there. So it is taking some time PMing one by one the readers who post the more comprehensive reviews. You won't have any trouble with any of these recruits either. The other forum section is very civil and respectful - and serious!

I'm also realising how useful the emojis are here. On the other forum, there is no quick acknowledgement mechanism to respond to posts, like G and G.

Don't forget this is primarily a football forum. Not everyone wants to read book reviews.

Time for you to get cracking and recruit some football fans to G and G, Ashtongate.

You’ve had a lot to say about not recruiting cricket and bookreading fans to G and G, some who may have a modicum of interest in football.

Who have you tried to recruit to G and G?

Do you agree the forum needs more members?

Honestly, I am fine with the current size. We don't really want random book people tbh. I'd prefer they are football fans, or at the very least sport fans. If they want to join they can but I could care less tbh
