Official South Melbourne Hellas thread 🔵⚪

Dissapointed we copped some sloppy goals tonight, all pretty much identitical failing to clear the ball off the Auckland long throw. 1st half more then matched it but the 2nd goal in the 60th killed us off and our legs went with it.

I suspect Auckland will finish on top again, its a very difficult style of play to combat, they hardly ever pass the ball backwards and very rarely do they just do meaningless side to side passes, then recycling it back again, the intention is to pretty much get the ball in the box as quickly as possible, even launching free kicks from the halfway line deep.

Now i know how other teams felt when we use to beat them to death with long throws and set pieces lol.

3,700 is a great turnout. Absolutely no reason why we shouldnt be looking at 5,000+ for Sydney Olympic in October.

Cooks Hill United got 5k, dissapointing turnout by your mob ;)

Looked more like 300 on the stream.
I only watched the highlights when I got home but yeah it did look small in comparison to the other matches... even Nunawading attracted a bigger crowd... I dont know how/why Avondale even exist to be honest... its gonna drag down attendances in the Championship thats for sure.. maybe they can change kits to black and green to match their new facilities and fanbase?

With the crowds Auckland were pulling this season, i was kinda expecting atleast 5k of them to turn up, i guess they probably have no idea who South Melbourne are qbd thought they were probably just some small local Melbourne suburban club, not worth the $$ on plane tickets etc 🤷

Yes, many are ex-NPL/NSL. Your original post was that South Melbourne had the most Australian internationals, thats why other people posted Sydney United, Marconi, Sydney FC etc actually have more.
I said clearly and concisely once more:

"Lets call it loud and clear, with 52 Australian internationals on our books id like anyone to give me a comparison as to any so called mainstream franchises or other that can claim to be more Australian!!"

Despite playing dumb when it suits bc you are one of them, the reference to certain individuals that follow certain frnachises here and constantly having to hear how unaustralian we are... and it relqtes directly to the aleague ...

Again with the accuracy issues plaguing the reply, Sydney fc deosnt have more there champ, some of OUR ex NSL clubs do yes.. if you check the results many of those sydney fc claims are infact ex nsl so they dont exactly count for you.

At the end of the day not EVERYONE can play in the round of 16, even massive clubs like Victory and Oakleigh couldn't do it this year....

This has no relation/does not apply to me. I’ve said over and over that I support Australian football at all levels. You seem upset that i haven’t shown you any allegiance to an NPL club. I grew up in the St.George area and supported St George Budapest. Please get over your insecurities HBW. You come across as whiny.
