Official South Melbourne Hellas thread 🔵⚪

We played Peios as a winger last year off the bench when at City he was a defensive midfielder. He’s gone to Preston and he’s running the show and been one of there best players.

We had a shocking off season for signings apart from Mells of course no one else we signed made us better. Even with Charlie Leech he scored 4 goals and 3 assists in 2 seasons. Is that good enough to be your starting attacking midfielder at South? I don’t know so. I’m still spewing we let Cian Cuba go.

Kokotis as football director nearly got us relegated when he was last in the job so not holding my breath that things will improve. He just brought back a heap of youngsters who used to play for the club in the juniors but none of them are really good enough to push our current starters for spots
Are the new NPL rules to blame for some of that though? Not excusing the garbage off season signings, just wondering out loud?

Messourouni another one we brought back.

I was expecting a bit of a splash this season but all we got was Mells, and even that was because hes a South fan and now lives in Albert Park.

Im watching Avondale, Zinni comes off injured, Valentini subs in for him. Huge difference.
Dont forget our global search for a 2 meter #9 on ...... tinder.

Christ you guys throwing out the dummy just 4games in.
Don't take me wrong I'm just viewing from the outside up here in Syd.
I get the fixture angst but thats how it goes.
Your comp is looking bit similar to ours at this early stage myself and Berreta agree its looking like the most open comp is ages where the usual suspects have started off slowly and the mid table clubs have recruited well and grabbing the points at this stage.
I have stirred MSC in the passed your SMH have had a great run for years lacking out and out competition imo, well its arrived it seems.
Maybe the last few seasons have brought in complacency ie not recruiting well in depth by reading posts above.

Early March and killing the interest already, christ isn't it the time to stand together and turn up.
Again just for conversation from outside perspective.
Mate, its a little more complex than that .... Monday was a disaster of epic proportions. Absolutely no disrespect to Dinamo, but we threw 3 points away for absolutely NO VALID reason.... Like the others have said above, its been 3 days and my blood is still boiling.. Instead of looking forward to a mighty clash against Preston.

I was told that JA said NO to our approach last year ... the diff was 20k more at the Bergers.....

My understanding was the issue wasnt the 20k but rather the clause he wanted in his contract to be able to leave instantly if he got an A league offer, aside from that we were his preference, most of the board were happy to include the clause cos lets face it he isnt getting an A league gig now, but 1 board member whose always been pro Esteban overuled it, negotiations broke down and Heidelberg swiftly moved in, so swift that they sacked Katsakis whilst he was bolidaying in Greece lol.

FFS we are a rabble .... fold the club already... seriously? We wanna compete in the Championship and push for titles???

Just call time now, Hellas is gone, time of death Monday 3rd March at approx 7.30pm.

Another issue is, if we let go of Quintans who do we replace him with 'realistically'. Are there any quality managers out there at the moment without clubs? I'm somewhat critical of Quintas but at least he can pull a result away against a top team, I'm pretty sure under him was the first time we had beaten Cannons away, CT couldn't even do that...
No shortage of high profile coaches around, at the end of the day South is still a big gig.

The problem is a new coach needs a good off season to teach this team a different way of playing. Anastasiadis could come in tomorrow but these players wont be zipping the ball around like heidelberg does. The post Quintas South will need to a proper reset. Im convinced the bulk of our training sessions are based around set piece and long throw positioning.

No matey, OUR suits don't own the club and can be voted out if they piss us off too much... Yours dont want to play in international tournaments because they cost too much, ours wanna play in EVERYTHING .... sometimes at the   same time it seems
Our fans have been voting our owners out for years by not coming to matches thank you very much!
