Official South Melbourne Hellas thread 🔵⚪

Lopez was excellent as always, our defence was fine. Virtually zero midfield and our forward line only clicked (somewhat) during ET. We looked totally aimless when attempting to move the ball from midfield, Mikkola seemed as though he was our only saving grace when moving forwards (for the most part). Our bench is to inexperienced to make any serious impact. We looked totally confused when doing anything out from the midfield and I think Quintas would have 'some what' helped with that.
 
After such a good season last year we absolutely butchered our off season. No competent Sawyer replacement which we knew from weeks out from the season ending that he was gone. All our signings have made no impact apart from Mells. We lost our assistant coach who at least had coaching experience for someone who hasn’t coached before and probably dosen’t even have any coaching qualifications.

When other clubs are strengthening their squads we have got worse and are in big trouble. The midfield looks cooked and has no legs. The attackers look lost. This has happened at the worse time with the Championship coming up

We need to accumulate a further 25-30 points to survive relegetion. This football will be lucky to get us 2 more wins and they will be cos of Javi.
 
Utterly embarrassing

We have a great goalkeeper and a decent defence.

Our midfield is nonexistent and a forward line that would be perfect for a State League 5 club.

Dandy Thunder just ran over us so many times it wasn’t funny. Our defence and goalkeeper were constantly under pressure. It was only a matter of time before we conceded. The fact it was 0-0 at halftime was an achievement.

We never at any stage looked threatening or moving the ball forward in a coherent strategic way. What is the game plan? Just get it forward as far as we can and try and get a throw in ?

Serious questions have to be asked about Esteban’s player recruitment. We have gone backwards this year. We never replaced Sawyer, and the Danish player is not at NPL standard.

The only solution moving forward is for Esteban to resign and bring in a caretaker coach for the remainder of the season. How many more matches does Esteban have to lose before the club moves to fire him?
 
10 day break between the Hume and Dandy City would be the time to do it. Hopefully the club are on the phone to Marinos
 
Its frightening that every team we play looks like Avondale against us now.

I knew the cliff was coming for us, but i was thinking more along the lines of not contending anymore. I didnt think we could ever be the worst team in the league.

Its starting to make sense, we couldnt even create chances against Port Melbourne with an extra man for 75 minutes.

We've covered Esteban, how fkn stupid does the club look right now?

Im adamant that the current playing squad isnt the problem.... nor was recuritment the issue ... any other proper coach/manager has this squad flying, barring major injuries ofcourse!!

Esteban out should be the new motto. Fear now is he gets a result with hume and buys more time otherwise a loss should theorteically be curtains call on his tenure, finally!

Playing squad as in best 11 is decent enough to be doing better in terms of results and perfornance.

Disagree with recruitment, just about every club went past us here.

Not interested in the club making injury excuses to cover for Esteban either. Only Bonada and Painter Andrews are injured, most clubs have more players out currenly and are more competetitive

100% this .... Ill give Esteban the Hume game to prove me wrong them I am joining the chorus for Esteban out ... Thunder should have put another 4 past us on Saturday, if not for a one legged, sore back, wonder keeper .... Te quiero Javi Lopez.

Port yes, gully and magic not sure as we havent played them yet, when i flip on youtube and watch a bit of them they still look better than us.

As it stands we are the only team that cant get the ball beyond the midfield with any cohesion. Im going to say we were the only team in the league not to have a shot on target this weekend.

If it comes down to who makes the best moves in the transfer window we are doomed as we are just gonna go and get duds from clubs like eastern lions and manningham again.

we may be the ONLY club that gets to play in the Championship the same season we relegated?
