Official South Melbourne Hellas thread 🔵⚪

Agree on Dailey, and Moller was certianly not used correctly but i just didnt see the glimpses others may have .. Dorron the GK we got, the one that came as a package with Beckett from memory? He flactuated more than the Dow Jones in the season we had him...
Pretty clunky at times but you can't teach size, I remember we ended up signing a GK coach (Peter Zois maybe?) a few days after he had a good game against Gully if I remember correctly.

Just a thought out loud and im not saying it wouldve worked and Im not a manager, but given the traction you would want to create for the AU champ etc why not have tried enticing someone like Vellios playing in Cyprus for salamina or Ioannidis (Nikolaos) playing in kosovo ffs, 30yo strikers that are playing in lower sides with full careers and national team appearances etc... would they have been worse than shopping at IKEA?
Dont need another Billy Konstandinids and Christos Intzios mate .... Bring me a Konstandelias or a Karetsas please.... :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

You do realise 3 teams get relegated this year right?

My understanding is a lot of the Victory kids end up leaving after the A league season.

Regardless that still means South have to finish above one of Altona, Gully, Knights etc. Right now we are worse than all of those teams.
right now agreed..... lets see how the season pans out before worrying about the sky falling eh?

I would have him back in a heartbeat sucks he only stayed for a season

Intzidis was in fact a GOOD signing.

He arrived at the WORST time, when the 2018 season fell apart.

He did in fact find his niche playing in front of the back 4 (after initially playing as a defender).

Our record that year when Intzidis was in that position was very good.

But as soon as he left to go back to Greece with 4 games to go, we fell apart again, losing ALL FOUR GAMES!

We only survived the drop because of the other results in the last round.

I remember sitting in the sunshine, Timmy Mala red carded after the first 5 mins, 1 goal down to Port praying for a Clarinda win.... what a horrible season....

This money thing from the board is absolute rubbish and I’m not buying the excuses. Andriankos and Stamoulis put money into the club, they had Pelligra (certain board member fucked that one up), plus they have double the sponsorship investment that Cannons have. So what’s the excuse.

When are the fans going to sit there and push that every single board member go. How peso merchant hasn’t been sacked is an indictment on this club. How our theoretical next in line has zero experience in any football coaching capacity is beyond fucked. Probably explains why Esteban hasn’t been sacked.

This club used to pay Lujic 3 bags a game plus give him accomodation. Now their approach is to go draft in reindeer who call themselves footballers. The squads stocked full with centre backs but who’s the tue midfielders in this squad. The only notional true midfielders are Durso and Halfpenny, Mells and Pope are attacking mids. Truly pathetic squad planning, a shambles.

This clubs going down the Bentleigh Greens route of going into abyss. Except they lost their main source of sponsorship. We have board members who prefer to spend time at other clubs then give a shit about the state of South.

ok fellas from the outside.......
I've had enjoyable banter with MSC here for sometime now and up until this season there was never any much ramblings of background discontent but for things such as Bulls grabbing Sawyer for eg.
I don't recall much angst posted towards your board last number of years - I suppose the winning as I've mentioned to MSC not having much competition (but for the blimp season/s) clouded back room matters.
Won the league by 6points last year and this, within 9games the wheels have fallen off completely.
15 points from 1st.
The clubs finished beneath youse normally have leap frogged and tbh returning Preston have taken your spot.
Now I see some weird crap going on re comps, one the Championship then this mad Club challenge option come up out of the blue but of all seasons to fall in a heap with Champiuonship coming up why/how did the chiefs take the eye off the bloody ball ?!
Recruiting for this season would have been the most important of the last number of seasons.

MSC this is typical us/ethnic losing the plot, reminds me of SO and APIA up here.

The club became complacent and underestimated the league, i mean we only needed a long throw to beat 80% of them previously. After beating Oakleigh in the community shield and sydney olympic in pre season they probably thought they could pull off a high ladder finish doing the same old (minus Sawyer). The charade ended that night when St Albans belted us.

I also think the coaches style of play limits what you can bring in, no point bringing in ball players from Avondale for eg when the style is to lump it up the park to the big guy.

South supporters knew that we rode our luck for 3 years and that it would likely be a massive fall off the cliff with Esteban eventually.

The fact we brought in the presidents no experience nephew as assistant shows how much we are taking the piss.

Overall, it just baffles me that for a club that constantly flaps its gums about how ambitious it is and how they plan to be a dominant force in the nst/oceania league and every other bogus comp they will look to join, somehow have its actions look like the complete opposite.

The supporters weren’t as vocal about the board over the last few seasons because we were winning although frustrated we couldn’t win Grand Finals.

It’s turned into anger now with the off-season we had, change in football director, experienced assistant coach who was highly regarded left and obviously lost Sawyer the best striker in the league and the most important player for any side in the league.

The football department knew Sawyer was leaving 2 months before our season ended and couldn’t come up with a suitable replacement.

We got the President’s nephew as assistant coach with no coaching experience or qualifications and the football director from last season stepped down for his son to get a spot in the senior squad this season.

It’s good that the supporters are finally seeing it with their own eyes but the alarm bells were there from the pre-season.

The worrying thing is it was mentioned on the NPL Pod last week that club boards should see sackings happening before the fans as they should have all the info, however, in this case it seems like the fans have seen it before our own board which is concerning.
