Perry Park - Olympic Application

My understanding is Brisbane Roar were hoping to move some games there this season. For whatever reason this hasn't happened. Western Untied getting the tick of approval to play games at Ironbark fields opened the door for BRFC to approach the league about doing the same for Perry Park. It seems a matter of time before Perry Park is redeveloped, one way or another. It will be unbelievable for Brisbane Roar if they can get to a redeveloped Perry Park.

The perfect size for teams outwith Sydney and Melbourne is 25,000. Remember it can't be too small, or else you are potentially locking fans out. ( i know, i know )

yep, I just ctrl + F'd 'content' when you asked your question to see what the hell they were talking about (because I thought it might be tied to just a specific line), but they've used it throughout the document. Is 100% trying to tie football into a marketing exercise, rather than player/club development, etc.
Hhhhhmmmm

Just maybe taking about developing kids in parks does not or is not the way to get the government to spend millions nay hundreds of millions.

Just maybe to sell the concept to a government that has never in any real sense supported Football you need to sell a grand big picture.

Not being an expert in anyway I was impressed with what looks a professional presentation delivered on time after pushing to be heard.

That it's seen as a marketing tool is essential so there is some pay back to the investment for the government both financially and politically

I'm cautiously optimistic on this one. FQ has a friend in the Premier and there is an obvious need for the development.
Crisafulli is from Ingham. There are a lot of football people in FNQ. A lot of immigrants from Italy and Malta came to work in the cane industry after WWII. Steve Corica is from Ingham. Farina and Stefanutto were from Mareeba. Inghams in real trouble with the flooding today 😥

Correct, but just also shows the mentality of sports funding these days, because for some governments (see my posts in the Canberra thread), the amount of “content” (or even potential worldwide viewers) does not matter one iota

The olympic application is genuinely amazing as well... too bad Queensland govt. is incompetent ... doesn't even feel like they're gonna build Vic Park stadium/arena/swimming pool

Nice little 10 to 12 k stadium planned for the Sunshine Coast... can recall a guy wanting to put a team there over 400K with no AFL, Big Bash or NRL team in the area.

Looks great, although you can bet, some local Rugby league team will try and claim it as theirs.

Just looked at the main photo again, and it has them playing Rugby.

Quite literally will be built for Football, used for Rugby

The ground already exists, it is primarily used by the Sunshine Coast Falcons who play in the Queensland Rugby League competition (the second tier behind the NRL). I think the local Sunshine Coast Football also used it for it's grand finals last season, but it is primarily a rugby league ground. So just another case of money being spent for an international football competition (in this case the Olympics) being of primary benefit and legacy for another code.

I suspect that if Sunshine Coast ever get a team in the NST (if that ever happens) they will try it use it for their home games, but will probably have similar problems to Roar with Suncorp (cost, concerts, rugby league taking precedence).

sunshine coast fire is a basketcase, ask QLD football culture about that... even still, sunshine coast is in the same place that tassie was 10 years ago, put a team there before NBL/NRL put a team there and claim everything for themselves
