Perry Park - Olympic Application

hmmm so enjoying another totally different sport ruffles your jimmies does it sport? Still happy to watch cars race round and round in a circle in Melbourne while their very existence destroyed my beloved home ground and forces my FOOTBALL club to play away from home for 3 rounds???? Any true football follower shouldnt give a single dollar to the F1 ....:P
If you owned the ground, then no problem. A shared rented ground will always have these problems.

exactly so why the angst against other sports?
touche on your reply but considering you brought up F1 it doesn't stab our game in the back in the press for starters.
It doesn't year in year out play back room politics to stifle our game.
Mind you F1 brings huge revenue for the country let alone your Albert Park precident and CBD considering how far in the black your state is.
Sure your effected by it but that happens having a big time game visiting the shores and take it out on your pollies what occurred to you not ME :)
Plus you know I HATE your dirty rotten scoundral of a game what it has done to us forever and a day that why stirring the melb pot :)
The arrogance behind this game is sic kenning.

It's impossible to live in Melbourne and not follow the AFL. Is the NFL like that to other sports in America?
that so, NRL is the main game here I went to a game or 2 30+yrs ago, grew up when our game and we were called poofs/sissy ball/frowned upon etcetc I didn't comply to fit in with the crowd and media saturation, sure not alone here.
Your comment says alot about there known for a long long time, anyway your perogative, I like the state banter.
No point bringing up the USA with 390M odd people spread across the country whereas we 27M and majority living on the edge of the east coast.

By the way the argies are a cut above - 2up already 17min in.
The close one touch play is to die for - in the other thread.

Yeah man but when my neighbour pulls up with a shiny new 911 my first thought is "what a beautiful car, lucky bastard, how do I sweet talk the mrs to let me go and buy one" NOT "I hate him and his shit car, they shouldn't even exist".. hahahahahahah

AFL, like NRL, Like Formula 1, like NBL, Like Cricket ... are ALL looking after their own patch mate, its OUR problem we don't get enough funding or media attention ...nobody else can make us be better..

yes mate here here, for all the wonderful thankyou Lowy backers he of all had the chance to really play the politcs in high places if he made better choices for the game not 1 small piece we may not be discussing as such today.
We can only hope this JJ stays on board for sometime and really make the inroads we need after the Championship.

When Lowy pulled up next door with a new Ferrari, he called the council on me and they made sure my driveway was built in front of and called ALL the dealerships to make sure I wasn't allowed to buy an imported car.... Only Australian made (state league NPL) for me ... lol

Truly Bogan.

In NSW, the Wog car of choice in the 70's and 80's was the Valiant charger, commonly known to the convicts as the " Marrickville Mercedes " or the " Wog chariot ".

Disclaimer: no racism intended.
Still call them wog chariots down here, only difference is they are all squirrel away in garages now, far to expensive to replace parts and panels... Gone are the days you could by a pair of heads for a 308 a packet of smokes and a front quarter panel for under $50

Was watching fox footy yesterday, they mentioned the AFL had only chipped in like $60 million for about $6 billion worth of stadium builds/upgrades over the past for years, ridiculous.

2 doors are for try hards... :P .. hahahahah

HKs and HTs were very very tasty ... try finding one of those for under $200K these days .... I sold my HJ in the 90s to buy a farkin Prelude...... a HONDA!!!!! Jesus Christ I deserve to be deported.... ......

Talk about a blast from the past.

My dad bought a HT brand new. My brother 'inherited' it when dad bought a new car. He had it for a few years until I swapped my motorbike for the HT to drive around Australia. That was 35 odd years ago. Did thousands of ks in it and only blew one radiator hose near Tennant Creek or somewhere in the NT.

Drove it to Townsville from Darwin and then couldn't afford to fix it to pass rego so it sat on the nature strip for about 2 years. One day one bloke knocked on the door (circa 1994) and said would I take $500 for it.

Sold it and never saw it again.

Anyone know what the upgrades to Perry Park will be?
Perry Park upgrade won't be anything substantial, I very much doubt it will take it to a level where it is suitable for A League Mens, e.g., minimum of 10,000 seating capacity. It will be an improvement for grass roots usage.

And of course the improvements made to Sunshine Coast, Townsville and Cairns stadiums, while ostensibly for the Olympic football, will primarily be used for rugby league, with no real legacy there for football.
