Sydney fc v Bangkok

The game was played in 30 degree heat with 80-90% humidity which is difficult even for professionals. Agree that Sydney didn’t play that well. But the game sure was entertaining.

Fact of the matter is that Sydney FC didn't look convincing in either leg.

Playing at walking pace..passing it around at the back and dwelling on the ball... inability to put in a cross without shanking it out of play more often than not... its schoolboy level. The game is probably in the worst state of health its ever been here.

I think the thing is SFC still won the game and are through to the next round of matches against the Korean club. Its good for the A-League that SFC has gone this far and are actually taking the comp seriously unlike prev times.
 
Important to note that Bangkok United apparently had not lost a home game in 2 years which includes their Asian Champions League (elite now) campaign last season.

We played so poor, it's Ufuk and Maisano ball but they got over the line.

2nd tier Asian football is dire too. Players still simulating injuries and rolling around the grass wasting time while referees allow it all to happen. Tin pot confederation.

Only Japan and Korea play any football and the proof is in the relative success of their players in big leagues.

Australia is so far off its a joke. This is supposedly one of its biggest clubs.

We did make it to the R16 at the last world cup with a bunch of A-league players so things are not to bad. And Korea and Japan dont have a capt league unlike us. They have better TV deals so the clubs can spend more money were as the ALM clubs might as well be on the dole with the crud funds coming there way. Also look at the kids playing in the A-League now, some are very good and will go on to bigger and better things.

Spending more money wouldn't change the fact there's a complete lack of talent coming through.

Parked the bus at the world cup and got lucky to jag a couple of narrow wins against underwhelming opposition. This wasn't a victory for A-league football. A few members of this squad were named in the unofficial worst 11 of the tournament. It was a victory for getting 11 behind the ball when you have nothing else to your game. At least Arnold wasn't naïve enough to think they could actually play football. Oh and their best player was a Scotsman who'd never even set foot in Australia before he became a Socceroo.
