The Medical Room - Injury Updates

could do a lot worse than triantis, though he has been in midfield

rowles and burgess would be a solid back 2 as well
A back 5 could be:
Bos - Rowles - Burgess - Geria - Strain

I'd prefer a back 4 dropping one of Geria or Strain.

Miller isn't even playing atm but there's a lot of time to win his spot back before March.

Miller played today actually and was motm

Jack iredale is another playing in a back 3

It was commented he had a good game today. Personally I'd like to see him never picked for Australia again. Selecting him isn't the worst thing. It's then that somehow our entire game plan is to go through him. It's 2024 and we're building a team around Lewis Miller. SMH.

Sadly for years we have always had to build our team around our weakest position.

Yeah I mean we're not at Ange levels of missing centre backs. Yet...

I do look at the depth though and you'd need something mental to happen that Iredale and Natta start a game together.

Alex Grant ought to be considered. Davidson is another for a back 3 system.

Natta is not international standard

Yeah I just saw in the AA thread. I'd still pick Strain over him. The wing back role is so important in Popovic's system. All our width. I don't mind Miller but not offensively. He's all bull at the gate and effort with no skill.

I know. The question is how crazy it'd need to be that such players start even getting short listed.

What bugs me is the persistence with these players at Olyroos level when they're clearly not going to get there. It's cost us Olympic qualification.

Like Circati playing for Paris would've been so bad in hindsight.

Latest update with Souttar confirmed achilles and season. He'd have been every chance to play prem next year and is now gonna be recovering and looking for a new team in the January transfer window in a years time. If recovery goes well. What a total cluster fuck.

If we're looking at back 3 fits the Elder and Davidson are very at home at LCB.

Stensness ACL. Could've been his big chance. Triantis is more midfield now but can be considered. Sainsbury surely isn't going to grow back but crazier things have happened (Brattan starting Japan away).

Not very good but Susnjar got called up so many years ago.

Karacic was moonlighting as a CB for Lokomotiva for a while as injury cover. He could play RCB.

Yeah I'm kind of comforted now seeing the depth. Quantity over quality but for me it's more about further up the pitch. Get Kalik and Deni Juric in too. Both are playing really well. We've got ages to plan for this window and Popovic is surely looking at every possibility.

Stamatelopolous out for 6 weeks per @grazorblade. I'm not sure the nature of the injury. Rotten luck as he returns to form and building momentum. His second medium length injury at Motherwell.

Jacob Farrell has injured his knee again and needs surgery apparently. No idea on the nature of the knee injury or the expected return. That news is incredibly shit.

another thread mentions Farrell requires surgery. out for season?? also I understand metcalfe is probably back to training early Feb. Yengi, Metcalfe, niewenhof, and Stama risk not being fit or have enough game time for selection in the next International window. Also i read on X (i think) that Hrustic also has been injured?
