Not sure who reading this saw Melbourne Victory v Western United game today?
Daniel Arzani was on fire in the first half! I thought Melb Vic played the best football I've ever seen in the A L in the first 45 mins, in terms of pure football.
Essentially, it was the Arzani Show - and possibly Machach.
Even if Kisnorbo is annoyed with Arzani over attitude, from what we saw from him today, no Aussies playing anywhere in the world have his creativity, flair, vision, balance on the ball when running with it, whilst keeping his head up, dribbling skills in tight spaces, first touch - and importantly playing through the central attacking third in creative attacking interplay - where the Socceroos have struggled to break down Asian defences.
Plus Arzani defends by tracking back, jockeying, tackling - which he didn't used to do.
As a fellow coach, me at a lower level, Kisnorbo is really unprofessional. The way he is intense in the dug out, incessantly shouting instructions to players, having tantrums, etc, puts players off. All of the game plans should have been done on the training track. Players want their coaches to be relaxed and let them play.
Because Kisnorbo isn't starting Arzani at times, should not stop Popa selecting our most gifted player. If Arzani isn't fit, he can at least play as a high impact sub for the Socceroos. The Socceroos are heavily reliant on game plans working. If they aren't working, Arzani is capable of individual brilliance that changes a game regardless of the prescribed game plan. Plus Asian teams don't know him - yet.
In the last game before this one, as soon as Arzani jogged onto the pitch as a sub, the entire Melb Vic team lifted. Arzani ignited the team. He took a pen and scored a few mins later.
