I'm shocked.
I would LOVE for all states to be involved not only in the Championship but also in National NPL tier below that.... reality is that a geographic representation is ONLY sustainable if there are strong clubs in each geography to sustain it.. The ULTIMATE goal is always to have the best performing clubs on and off the pitch playing in the highest possible leagues.. IF that means to top division in the country is 1/2 Sydney, 1/2 Melbourne or even all Sydney clubs then so be it.. Ive never been against it. Just want an avenue for clubs to be able to achieve bigger and better things... NOT to be mandated according to some sort of "fish where the money is" franchise bullshit.

Believe what you will about me but to be honest Im not even 100% comfortable with the whole "8 foundation clubs" thing.. I would much rather the 16 x clubs in this years Championship were the top two clubs in their respective leagues... if South miss out, they miss out bad luck.....

I'm happy with the 8 foundation clubs this season and with a 'national representation' to start with for the first home and away seasons. After that P & R needs to be happen both up and down. Clubs going up from the NPL should be able to show they can sustain themselves. Clubs going to the ALM would have shown they can survive so just need to ensure that lighting is right for the broadcasters.

No club should be protected from relegation or stopped from promotion as long as they meet the minimum requirement for the division.

Look at the ffa cup final between Sydney Utd and McArthur. Look how well Sydney Utd were supported, better than most a league teams. How good would it be seeing Sydney Utd playing at home against other a league teams. Edensor Park is a proper football ground.

100% agree apart from the Nazi salutes, Stasi songs, and talking during the national anthem and welcome to country. (I was at the game).

I mean the FFA cup has shown there should be no issues with NPL teams playing in the top division. What's the difference between it being an a league team or an npl team??

FFA Cup has also shown you don't need to have big salaries to be competitive.

A-League (and future NST) are fully professional. Clubs need the capacity to pay professional wages. As it stands right now, only 8 clubs were able to meet NST requirements. So, with the current structure, short answer is $.

ownership and structure are what divides them - operational funding to some degree although the gap isnt as massive as it once was.

NPL clubs, don't have an owner, they are not for profit community sport clubs, they generally have all age teams for both means and womens, a council ground (with some exceptions that own their own land and stadium) and a senior mens and womens team funded by spopnsorship and corproate events mainly (very small match day income)

Aleague clubs are owned by someone or something and pay a licenst to operate in a closed off league and use a particualr geography, set of colours and franchsie name allocated to them by the APL. Some of them ahve some underage mens teams (not girls though apart from seniors) and they call these "academies" for some reason? They all play at council or governemnt owned grounds for exorbitant rent and
senior mens and womens team funded by sponsorhsip, a rapidly diminishing broadcast deal and the generosity of loss making ownerships groups. (They also have a very small match day income)

Fair enough too.. clubs must be able to meet the requirements to pay professional wages to be able to step up ... forking out 25 million dollars for a license though is another matter all together.

curious; Do you sit in the disabled section of the stadium?

Wrong ! MacArthur only pay $1 per season on ground hire.

The UK also call the under age teams " Academies "
