Nothing new, Muscats MV teams would bully teams off the park as well.

Ordinary game tonight but hard to argue with City being worthy winners, kept Victory comfortably at bay and actually missed the other 2 best chances of the match.

I wonder if it’s a factor of nrl and afl influence in our sport? I think people here in this country enjoy the combative nature when it comes to sport.

Yeah ive never heard people complain about divers in england like they do in oz and england is one of the most permissive places in europe

I think we are self conscious about not having a "real mans game"

For me I view football as a technical game but I can understand how the physical side can play a big part in a game, it’s all about the culture it’s no coincidence that World Cup winners come from not only from football countries but they countries also value technique and tactics.
 
City well deserved winners with Aurelio Vidmar being the most improved coach in the league by far.

Did a great job getting them to second given the injury crisis they had for most of the season and finally got them to stop bottling big games.

Game reminded me of when I would lump around random $5 dollar bets on Argentinian league matches, fouls left right and centre.
 
If we have shit tonnes of fouls not given over giving Arzani a free kick because he's fallen over for the 20th time I'm all for it.

So many floppers in our game that can fuck right off.

Do you blokes not remember raging about Broich and Del Piero getting frees for the softest of touches years ago? That's all you ever heard people whinging about. Every bloody week.

'They're looking for contact to gain a cheap free kick'. And they were.

Drove people bananas.

By the way watch an EPL corner and tell me they don't put up with as much contact as us. Its a full on wrestling match.

Been enjoying the conversation here on this.

It's interesting to note the inconsistency of refs on corner fouls. Some players scream and the whistle will go.

I for one hate when fair use of the body or natural clashes or momentum are adjudged as fouls. Players who go down like the leg has been broken but can sprint right after play has resumed must be reprimanded. The truly hurt don't recover that quickly.

Many years ago he came to Suncorp for an All-Stars game. In the first half, every aleague player just did what they did for their own team week in week out and it was a useless mess. As they game progressed I saw Jamieson talking tactics to our Roar player in the side and they worked out something between themselves.

In the second half, Jamieson played differently and actually worked with the Roar player to produce some very useful football, while those around them continued to play 'their way' with the same woeful cohesion.

At the time I thought that Jamieson had shown himself to be an intelligent, thinking footballer.

I see him on the coaching bench now for City in games and he is always scheming away, discussing playing options and tactics - so I wonder how much of his intelligent consideration is going into those smooth and effective attacks that City put through some very organised and effective defences?

Sure Vidmar and the team behind the team have roles to play, but I have an untested belief that Jamieson is a key factor in their whole attacking system being so incisive.

One thing that no one has commented on is on Trewin. Arrived at MC from the Roar for this season and he has been immense throughout the season. As he was again last night. What a loss for the Roar but happy for Trewin for tasting success.

He has been mentioned in dispatches by a few on here, so not favourite, but a possibility for the Roo squad.
