That's a very good point. Australia have played nearly everywhere. UEFA will say, yeah but we went to Moldova or Kazakhstan. Cute.
It is often good to read foreign media and the teams' perceptions of us.
There is also a lot more about the game played, as we have virtually no football media in Aus!
There was Danish Tech Dir of one of their big clubs, FC Copenhagen I think, a Mr Christensen, who was terrified about playing Aus in Qatar. He said the Danish media and fans though it would be a walk over.
Mr Christensen said Denmark had played 10 games involving short distance travel in UEFA, in very familiar conditions with an easy draw for UEFA. He said Aus had played twice as many qualifiers, 20 odd, all over Asia, and played many home WCQ games in Qatar. Plus the sudden death game against Peru, a tough opponent, in Qatar.
Also, he alluded to the Aussies who had played in Denmark being renowned as having a never say die attitude, immense mental strength and who were prepared to give everything to the team cause. Mr Christensen expected the Aus team to be a more battle hardened team unit than Denmark, with the team unit being much greater than the individuals who made up the team, devoid of stars, and with greater motivation to win. He was right.
