Sign Up Now!The untapped market ?I wonder who the target audience for the broadcast / presentation will be? Theres no point gearing it solely towards the fans of the teams (we are going to watch anyways), are they going to try to appeal to A-League fans or that 'untapped' market of football fans that don't already follow the NPL(S) or the A-League.
If you remember James Johnson did say at the NST presser in November last year that the NST would be included in the FA broadcast package (now with 10), but it desperately needs mainstream exposureI wonder who the target audience for the broadcast / presentation will be? yep ok get that..The 'untapped market' I had in mind are people (some who I know personally) who don't follow the a-league because there is no pro / rel.
I would change that to 1-2 seasons. If the QLD Federation are really softening their stance then there is no reason for 3 seasons.I really hope we see H/A after 2-3 seasons, but I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't. It might depend on who is coming in after JJ goes.
I take my kids to Marconi games purely for the pizza in the trattoria. My own 2 sons with above be it relos/football mates have ventured to APL derbies but most are com si com sa about it - purely for the packed stad atmosphere and night out before epl
Im not sure it does mate.... The Aleague is for the "Mainstream" Im guessing the FA will be pursuing a much more football specific audience for the NST.If you remember James Johnson did say at the NST presser in November last year that the NST would be included in the FA broadcast package (now with 10), but it desperately needs mainstream exposure
Why no FA support for a true NSD? Instead wasting money on "NPL on planes super league"?There were enough clubs interested, but some didn’t make the cutoff based on the rules set on money, stadiums etc. I assume many more clubs would be interested in the NSD if money wasn’t an issue.
So, ponder this; the NRL and our government are looking to fork out $600,000,000 to fund a team in PNG.

Federal government close to securing $600m deal for new Papua New Guinea NRL side
The federal government and the NRL are closing in on a deal worth up to $600 million to secure a new NRL side based in Papua New Guinea.www.abc.net.au
That would fund the NSD for decades. Why no govt support for NSD?
Haven’t we been through all this….move on . It is what it is.Why no FA support for a true NSD? Instead wasting money on "NPL on planes super league"?
I would love to be able to be constructive, but this feels no better than:Haven’t we been through all this….move on . It is what it is.
How about some constructive criticism.![]()
Lawrie McKinna who is Sydney Olympic CEO this evening joined The Global Game program this evening after Football Australia confirmed announcement late last week of a champions league model NSD to be held late 2025.
the gaurantee is either something to screw clubs over or a stroke of political genius - since it makes it harder to prevent evolution to h&aLawrie dropping a few club names putting their hand up for NST: Adelaide City, Heidelberg, Melbourne Knights, and a Perth club!
Also said another meeting in a month or so about the third RFP.
Apparently the guarantee has been paid to FA and the clubs are paying interest on the $500k! Jesus that's insane. I though a guarantee was just that, no an actual transfer of funds.

Throughout the whole podcast i was pretty happy with the hostsputting aside the what if's/RFP's/$$'s held by the FA etc it was enlightenning listenning to McKinna.
A very good asset we/SO have in the background pushing the barrow.
He talks sense and knows the ins and outs when the AL started with just 8 as well.
I can't recall when Hill mentioned why is the FA hell bent on starting with 12 clubs whereas the AL started with 8.
I'll have to listen to it again later on.
I'm sure also the FA/JJ respect McKinna more than most, no dis respect to other NPL CEO's.
I picked up he hopes its H/A from '26 ?????
Maybe premature but at least it sounds like the Clubs (8) keep pushing the barrow the way I read it.
