2025 NPL attendance and viewers

Great night for the community and football fans in general. NPL1 has definitely missed Preston over the past 15 years.

However, I don’t know about 9k though. I don’t know if it’s because a fair chunk of the other wing was closed therefore makes it seem like there was less. IMO, thought there was maybe 7.5k - 8k max. Nevertheless, great night for football in this state.

Does Preston travel in numbers to away games?

Their Sydney brothers Rockdale dont. They dont like paying tolls or ticket prices.
Yes best travelling support easily. As said they didnt have a great turnout at dandy city a few weeks ago (maybe a few hundred or so) but don't forget they brought 2-3k there in NPL3 (now VPL2) in 2021. It's a ground in the middle of nowhere

Fucking awesome crowd at Preston . Let’s hope it doesn’t halve

The truth I think is Preston have reignited the NPL, their rise and now their spending has lifted the league dramatically.
It was crazy but we also aren't naive

Once afl season kicks in and the cold weather the crowds will drop as they have previously in recent seasons.

For the time being lets just enjoy the ride

Well I hope to get them in the championship come end of the year. Preston away is a must 👍

Obviously I'm more into the a league then npl but if npl is doing well then football is doing well.

I wish we lived in a world where npl and a league acknowledged each other like in the Australia cup.

We generally do have a decent away following but again it's all dependant on who we played and some games you'd just get die hards.

I'd say us, south and even thunder have some good away followings.

I'd expect we'd also have decent crowds against victory npl, knights. Dinamo, thunder potentially.

Unsure if we'd be allowed to go to oakleigh so that will be interesting

Great to see Prestons crowd, is that attendance sustainable?

On the flip side Marconi - Olympic has probably no more than 500.

true here we struggle, infact its been choked out to degree for years and thats the issue.
Some games have fair crowds many not - hard to put it together why.
Its been stale for years re attendance but for the general diehards and I' not saying the old er gen.
Club people no matter the age.
The incentive isn't there to the general young gens for the comp has been in the dark for 20+yrs.
Big town they need a spark,
I think/hope alot would make an effort come out of the woodwork when the Championship gets going.
We need a Preston injection but the comp needs it per say more than anything, feel the ethnic past rhetoric still lingers to the general young gens , a visiting SMH/Lions/Avondale and the other NPL winners will be exciting news and I expect people will put off what else they were going to do that night and test out the game.
The Clubs need to lift their game more than anything as well.
We can only hope I suppose.

Just watched it. You're exactly right. He's dragged him down. Same would have applied if a defender drags the forward down when he's in the box. In both cases it's a red because there's no attempt at the ball.

The overarching consideration is is it a 'footballing challenge'.
Thanks for clarifying .. sadly the debut keeper had a nightmare moment ... I was momentarily perplexed by the red but agree, it was NOT an attempt on the ball.. red card was fair.. In fact the ref was exemplary the whole match - sad that FV had to bring a ref down from Sydney fro this match but it shows that even those parasites acknowledge how much bias reffs in Melbourne have against South...

The turnout was literally the same as last year, it was only more sparse behind the goals because they opened a bit of the side where the old scoreboard is and many ppl went there, myself included.

Its going to be good having the next one in a bigger stadium with lots of seating.
I disagree, I reackon there where more of us on Friday and propably double from Preston side.... I cant comment on 9k but I wouldnt put it as too far off that.... regardless... was a magnificent vibe.

We both know that is the biggest home crowd of the year for Preston (baring possible finals) as the return will be at Lakeside... well done.... great night... only complaint was the massive lines for a cevapi and beer... :(

We were probably about the same.

How was Preston double? I've gone bsck and watched the highlights of last years cup game on youtube and the Preston grandstand and behind goals is as full as it gets. Not a hell of a lot of space for more let alone double.

My thinking is last years was just as big or close but they stuffed up scanning at entry or something.

Maybe double is an exaggeration but they were wrapped around the scoreboard side of the pitch as well as 10-15 deep behind the goals .... regardless of the actual number it "looked" good in my eyes... Its been a long time since a regular season match had that sort of atmosphere ... I enjoyed it .... up to us now to make the return even bigger.

Cant say for sure cos it will be winter but if the weather holds up i think 10k is possible, even if we are in the bottom half, this matchup has event status now, will be the hottest ticket in town that weekend.

I wish there was a world where clubs were considered clubs regardless of the legaue they played in... Friday night saw massive crowd for a state league match in the industrial wastelands of Melbourne's Northern suburbs and tiny crowd in Melbourne's bright shiny football specific stadium .... why?

In the grand scheme of things it means nothing really but the conversation has to change in my opinion ...
