The current crop of A League franchise players are nowhere near the quality of football player the NSL clubs were producing back then.

The NSL was a great conveyer of talent for many of the major European league's....

The EPL, the Bundesliga, Serie A, Holland, France...

The A League franchise competition is a great conveyer of talent for the lower reaches of the Scottish League system.....

Levels in Europe have massively increased since the NSL days.

Remember, Australia never qualified for a world cup in the NSL days.
 
Oh my indeed ! Look ar some of teams you failed to beat, New Zealand, Scotland, Iran and Israel, hardly world beaters.

A midfielder of Tim Cahill's or Ned Zelic's quality??

A defender of Alex Tobin's or Brett Emerton's quality???

Or a Goalkeeper of Mark Schwarzer's or Mark Bosnich's quality????

A bunch of A-League players made it to the round of 16 at the last world cup, you cant deny that. So this proves we don't need another golden gen although it would be great.

Just between us all here, I think it's time we start making up some numbers to save ourselves the ridicule from our ALF and NRL neighbours. Consider it a white lie, start counting the staff, and the people in the stadium back rooms. It's got to this point we need to save face.

I did some digging and we might actually be up from last year comparing like for like

Crazy....I guess post covid i graded crowds on a curve. Now covid is in the distant past the decline is really evident

I see Perth and Newcastle could improve now they have ownership, short term problems aside. Brisbane roar looks bleak and not getting better. Wonder what wsw and Melbourne victory need to do to get back to where they were
 
I wonder if losing players to India has been a problem for fans as well. As much as I enjoyed last night it was obvious we're missing a star player (McLaren) for the crowd to get excited by

I'm pretty thrilled to see mehmeti and caputo (when he returns) get more time

Maclaren is an a league quality star, mehmeti is the first "next mark viduka" that might be the real deal (tho toure, Waddingham Goodwin and jovanovic probably all have decent careers)

I get guys like us want to see the next viduka and see the socceroos get success but casual fans and kids want to see a star. They want selfies with guys like leckie, McLaren, Cummings etc
