Melbourne City vs Melbourne Victory 20,093
Perth vs Wellington 7,074

That is fairly decent considering the Bulls and WU were playing at home.

I’m sure it was done this way for channel 10, but Adelaide vs Central Coast should’ve been the Friday night game.

WU got 4,207. They play at an NPL level ground in the middle of nowhere and I still have 100x more faith in them than I do with Macarthur.

Lol....mariners only got back from China late Thursday, so Friday in adelaide would have been too much. As it was they were so jet lagged in the first half they needed something at half time to get moving.

Good point I totally forgot about the ACL.

I was thinking, could we start a petition where we can get the whole crowd to sit on one side of the stadium so that the stadium looks full on TV?

This will only benefit the league and attract more interest and investors from overseas.

Now that they finally got a ground ( no thanks to them at all ) after bullshitting their way into the A League I think they'll do OK despite it being a small ground. Quite frankly the fact that is council owned and only 5000 capacity will help keep costs down for a few years. Considering how broke the league is some other A League clubs who are paying shit loads for ground hire and bleeding money would appreciate it.

And yes, Macarthur is a fucking joke.

Marc Arthur got over 4000 for their first game and just under 4000 for their second. Not a big difference to WU’s 4200. Why the hate?

It is actually a big difference. WU play at Ironbark Fields which has 5000 capacity (2800 seated / 2200 standing). That means they managed to hit 84% capacity over the weekend. They probably would be able to pull much more if they had greater seating capacity. Whereas Campbelltown Stadium has a capacity of 17,500 (all seated). That means Macarthur only managed a 21% capacity. Pretty poor, especially considering their fantastic round 1 result.

and the bulls catchment is huge.
Started '18, sure covid would have been a stumbling block originally BUT thats a long time water under the bridge now.
The amount of football clubs/jnrs/and ongoing new estate growth, its obvious they are not connecting what is in their backyard.

Their original stumbling block was the way they treated their fans (and apparently continue to do so). Had some of the most expensive tickets/memberships despite operating out of a pretty old basic venue. They should be giving away at least 5000 free tickets every single home game. They booted the actives from behind the goals to an area in the corner away from the cameras. Registered the active supporter group domain name so they could control it. The people running things seem to constantly work against their own fans. Betting scandal last season definitely doesn't help, even if it was limited to a small number of individuals. Now they have a FIFA transfer ban due to their treatment of Yorke. Whoever is calling the shots is digging a big hole.

yep all true someguy, the list just keeps getting longer on such questionable directives.
Its staggering for a new business keeps alienating its own audience they need first and foremost.
Lets not forget one move that was very wrong in the pioneering days, taking over the northern suburbs Northbridge Clubs route into NPL1.
Seriously, one we know its all politics here and the Feds, wouldn't the Club approached this as we build it and it will grow.
Put in your U23's into NPL2 let alone 3 and earn the right for promotion, the locals may think wow look at our new club striving to win/grow its right and lets support our local lads, NO, we did it the other way.
So many wrongs, its like they have gained advise from Gallop and the likes.
Betting scandel like wtf this monnow club but the minnow players involved.
I'm so glad York won his case, a huge slap in the face.

Not sure about that. Sure, there is a benefit in terms of optics / atmosphere which is great but WU have limited themselves considerably. I appreciate many football fans love the smaller venue, and it does create atmosphere, but it is a reminder how far the competition has shrunk in the past few years within the public mindset. I do long for the days that the A-League strived to be more, to be bigger.

I still cannot believe this occurred and was allowed to occur. It was such a slap in the face to the local football region they were trying to win over and it is not as if there would ever be much of a following for Macarthur in the lower north shore. I assume it is an hour or more drive from Northbridge to Campbelltown on a weekend. How it was ever allowed is beyond me.

Disappointing crowds last week for Auckland and the Melb Derby. Whilst I expected some drop off, given how round 1 went for Auckland I though they may crack 20k again. And only 20k for Melbourne Derby, yikes. Huge issue that needs addressing. I am confident the NZ derby will knock off the Melb Derby for crowd.

How about a different thought: it's up to the clubs to address the crowd issues no more excuses the best club will reign supreme whole the weak clubs can perish
