A-league attendances 24/25

Do we think we could get some more bums in seats and generate more $$$$$ if we adjust / get rid of the salary cap (EPL style financial fair play)? We have all this untapped money through City / CFG and more recently RedBull with Tarneit.

This is the A league part of the forum. Yet continuously, the NSL trolls all all over it with their massive chips on their collective shoulders , wailing about the A league dying every day. They are the ones who bore me.
There is an Ignore function, SB.

If anyone annoys you, activate the Ignore function and one never sees anything they post.

This is 18 years old, the NSL era.

I wish we had promo/releg with AL Div 1, 2, 3 etc, with all clubs included, but to constantly denigrate the AL as our pro league is boring.

Many of these guys were coaches in an era of 32 years of failure to qualify for the WC. They wouldn't adopt the new revised National Curriculum - arguing they knew better. The new whiz gen of young footballers coming through into the AL is vastly superior to any previous era, after 10 years of Dutch/Spanish/French coaching methodology.

Their last remnant is that less Aussies are playing at Big Clubs in Europe. Asia has improved immeasurably since we joined. It was the second most successful in the last World Cup after Europe. We've improved too, but not relative to some other Asian nations.

Bold of you to say Dutch coaching methodology is at the standard of the Spanish and French...

Mind you, do you think we also benefited from the world cup expanding the amount of teams (twice)?

11% down is a worry.

They are close to the top of the ladder too. IMO City are playing some very good football too.
Well I'm doing my part trying to bring people to games. Problem is the match experience is shite even if we're winning you can hear a ping drop

I used to agree with this. But then I found that the richest club in the league doesn't have a marquee player, whose salary in completely outside the salary cap. In fact, City have only had one marquee since 2019, Maclaren. Each club is allowed two marquees.

If we were a moneybags league, sure, wipe the cap. But today, our richest club isn't maxing out anyway. The cap rising might lead to average players being paid more, might also be able to keep some quality for longer. But we're so poor right now that clubs a selling any player that is bid for.

we are completely fucked!

They are on top and will only get better with Leckie and Tilio nearly ready to go.

Move them to Dandenong permanently and let them build proper local support. There is no long term viability of them playing at AAMI Park.

Ultimate A-League appears to have the Unite Round attendances included. Is there a website that provides crowds averages that doesn’t include the Unite Round?

One that provides year on year comparisons will help as well

Always thought u need to replace the salary cap with a luxury tax to make the league viable
1) compatible with a dts which would help poorer clubs
2) achieves just as much variation in champions as the salary cap
3) provides an additional revenue source in redistribution for poorer clubs
4) allows successful clubs, if we ever get any, to grow big enough to compete in asia

Ultimate A-League has an option to exclude neutral venues.

I've been tracking the crowds for years. They're improving in some areas and sucking in others. Here's a summary. Regular season averages excluding neutral venues, and the average per round. A big bounce thanks to Auckland:

not sure which thread this belongs to

interesting that the club was able to make up a lot of the 1.5mil in lost distributions through "better off field work". I'm curious about more details. I've been baffled by the massive overheads of a league clubs
