So basically you don't like how money has taken over the sport think we can all agree on that

and thats for every single league - and mind you countless other professional sports are run by the $ and broadcast rights modern times.
This is Pro sport, can't bring back the pioneering days let alone the days most/some of us here grew up watching Div1 though money was coming in - clubs buying players etcetc, players making a mint in those times, Robbie Fowler retired in 2012, long ago set up a couple of companies with McManaman, good portfolio he's still worth over $50M.
Its all relative.
Big business hedge funders/ME Kings/orgarlords, who thought this was going to be 30/40yrs back, mind you FIFA under Blatter became the supreme ruler ogarlord.
Actors/sport identities retired buying into clubs, again madness, this is the world today but it ain't gonna stop me enjoying the top flight.
I don't agree with robbos entirely of back in our days any club could have won a title, stats show not.
We probably had more variety, a change or 2 of the top 6 but thats P/R and Club management hurdles over tenures (derby is just classic example of this).
Just a fact of life even back in the day, there are X winners and some never get there period but are sound mid table consistant clubs and some that are the snakes and ladder types.

Well I watched the EPL in the 2000s the top was set then now you do have Nottingham second and it seems the table is more open.

For me var and the champions league also FIFA are trying to ruin the sport

In the 1970/80s, where Notts Forest under the mercurial Brian Clough, took Forest from 2nd division (Championship) to 1st Division (PL) to back to back European cups (champions league) all in a matter of 4-5 years. Let see where Notts Forest are at the end of season especially if they get a couple of injuries.

100% mate. I'm more than happy for you to enjoy and watch and support your team and hope you do well.... what I dislike is the narrative (not by you) that somehow EVERYONE has to support the Aleague for football to flourish in this country.

And I get that, the need to support the A League. What drives the discussion is that those outside the A League need to be part of it, even if only via the faint wiff of the chance to participate through promotion. That's drawing a long bow, but its what drives enthusiasm for the sport in every country.

I have been fighting this battle for years on here and the old board, on the proper names of football clubs.
