A-league attendances 24/25

The biggest difference is that Australia is NOT a football country, therefore the most talented end up somewhere else.
Its a real shame we don't see more indigenes kids playing in the A-League or even cricket for that matter as we do in the AFL and NRL, maybe there's less obscenities in football and cricket that there is in AFL and NRL. The cost just to play the game at Jr/Youth level must see a lot of them walk away.

Ok
I get re viewing going to watch their games but let’s look at each.
Jnr rugbys sure are not near football regos - rugby even at private schools have alot of football teams now compared to 20yrs ago.
Next afl - I’m sure it’s popular in melb and other west states but Syd Bris isn’t that big again compared to football Jnr unless I’m blind in our city.
Cricket well it’s a summa game at club levels so I don’t think it apples with apples to winter sports and those who good at it would stick with it as before.
I think the biggest issue in developing players the past 20+ yrs is 2fold.
Ok the ethnics from way back stuck by themselves therefore we lost a lot more anglos and others who may have kicked on stuck with the game therefore they and AL have ruined opening the net to gather and increase Jnr development and countless more clubs combined to enrich and have spaces for the many that walk away for the whole system is askew and divided for a long long time.
We have caused our own void more than anything be it past to present.
Take away the commercial aspect of Pro and AL overall we have lost 2/3gens of potential wannabee players.
Those other codes have had it easy being the major and resourced codes to reap the rewards.
It no matter we’re not a football country per se what we haven’t got is our shit together that’s more the deterant than anything imo.
It’s like going to take over a run down business that has lost money and customers for so long.
It’s very easy for outsiders to point the finger to the game operations and presentation for we are our own worst enemy and the easy fodder of crowd violence for the press is like a gift horse in the mouth as well.

Not that I like to compare sports but an equally struggling sport a decade ago in Basketball got their shit together eventually and the sport is reaping the rewards relative to its size.

Football has a very unique place in the Australian sporting landscape and I think the current setup has not really tried to tap into that over the last 20 years, rather has tried to superimpose templates from other countries (for youth development) and other codes (for commercial interests).

I maintain my position that the sport won’t shift to another level of consciousness until we start producing regular starters for the bigger leagues (especially the EPL).

A World Cup every 4 years is not enough and most people don’t care about the Asia Cup.

Yep agreed as well.
Like quali for the WC - it’s our badge of honour for the stat types well we’ve done better than many others but to me it’s all the commercial aspect and hype but nothing shows improvement with that success so what’s the point.
Our leagues are not doing great - AL struggles in Asian cup games etc etc
It all about numbers crowds and dick measuring.
I’d sooner the system finally gets a proper boost in the arse - state by state work together and get development in triple the numbers we currently have and hit these promising kids up the arse and make them work work work harder !
If you want to make bleed 🩸
