Fine, I'll go.Big blue will be 10-12k judging by ticket tek
It is hard to comprehend how far their attendances have fallen. The bigger city clubs are really struggling. If Optus sells its sports-arm and EPL goes to Nine / Stan, then surely the A-League has no choice but to follow (no matter what the short term dollars look like). The competition needs the connection to a large mainstream TV channel and newspapers (through its ownership of Fairfax). That is the only way I can see the A-League getting some media coverage in those larger markets. Add to that, it will have the benefit of cross-promotion with the EPL and Champions League.Big blue will be 10-12k judging by ticket tek
It's not that badMV vs SFC - 14038
Agree. Fairly decent number considering the 'big blue' has lost a bit of its lustre in terms of being the A League 'superclassico'.It's not that bad
Not as bad as some thinks.Take out WU n Cows and the average is just over 10k.
That's with Roar, WSW, PG all having poor seasons but all three capable with some decent form of increasing their crowds a lot.
It's what people fail to grasp. They get 4-5k at a 5k stadium and the facilities aren't even there yet. Population growth out in Tarneit is inevitable and those crowds and the demands will only grow.WU would probably outlive Victory and City. Having assets and a home that doesn't bleed ever increasing stadium rents and keeping the takings will be a huge positive.
Having seen the game on Campbelltown on TV, I struggle to believe that crowd figure unless 2/3 of the crowd was somehow off camera.6354 @ Newcastle
3843 @Campbelltown
Most crowds usually are on the broadcast side behind the camera so that neither are in the sun most days. I don't know why the camera can't be shielded on the sunny side though.Having seen the game on Campbelltown on TV, I struggle to believe that crowd figure unless 2/3 of the crowd was somehow off camera.
I don't know why we don't play in winter. Most crowds usually are on the broadcast side behind the camera so that neither are in the sun most days. I don't know why the camera can't be shielded on the sunny side though.
Increased attendance and broadcast dollars. Broadcasters don't want to pay us for a winter league. Even though APL got themselves a bad deal now, it would be worse or non-existent in winter. Even Melbourne Knights want to play in summer.I don't know why we don't play in winter.
True in the past but not so true now.Increased attendance and broadcast dollars. Broadcasters don't want to pay us for a winter league. Even though APL got themselves a bad deal now, it would be worse or non-existent in winter. Even Melbourne Knights want to play in summer.
