A-League Mens 24/25 - Round 4

Once again it is pleasing to see this.

I think there is a chasm of improvement in standard. I'm biased of course. I've mainly watched the two Melb teams, and whoever they've played.

I'm at the opposite end, I think the overall standard has regressed a fair bit.

Every team apart from Sydney have looked sub par.

Maybe its early season rust.

Good to see ratings/crowds up. Curious as to why this has been the case?

Auckland pulling solid numbers is a big part of it. Having another club pulling over 10k to their home games will be a big boost to the numbers, especially if they can keep the results coming.

I think the hard grounds particularly affected Europeans used to playing on softer surfaces.

I don't have the stats, but my gut feel is that it tends to be the local players rather than the imports who end up with the major injuries.

Dropping your Marquee player to the bench, bold move!!! Also, does anyone know if Aiden Simmons is injured, because he was really good last year - better player than Clear - I rated him to be the next RB for the Olyroos.
Another selection mystery is Clayton Taylor not being in the starting team for the Jets - he was one of their best players last season

Milanovic in great form. When the Euro move comes he needs a place where he's worshipped and now some 3rd string winger on a big bench. Bit like Kruse to Düsseldorf.

surely buli 2 for the win

Victory v Roar
Going to be a tough ask for us.

The optimist in me says we are at the bottom of the table because we have drawn the top 3 sides and had a bye for our first 4 games. A really tough start.

The pessimist in others would say they are the top 3 sides because they have played us :(.

Really excited to see how we go against an in-form and quality Victory today.

I have good news RIMB. We've only played 2 games, so haven't lost 3 yet!

Or have you already conceded this game and accepted we will still be bottom after today's game?

He he hee

I concede nothing :)

We are about to hand Victory their bums on a plate. I said we had drawn the top 3 sides rather than lost to them but I did also say that Victory might be top 3 because they had played us so fair cop.

Are you game to say that you are hopeful about today's result? I always know we can do it and hope that it happens...

I'm always hopeful 🤞🤞🤞

And that's why Piscapo should've been included in the Socceroos squad - close to the best player in the comp so far this season

Machach is quality, speed and strength - we are holding him desperately (literally at times) and have to keep doing that to stop him.

Piscopo is showing what he should always have been put in teams to do. His control, deception, speed, and passing vision and accuracy are great.

Victory are the dominant side but without it all their own way. Happy to see Roar putting more body into challenges like winning the contest means something.

Warland is dodgy. Bility gets stuck when faced with sudden surges. Waddingham (or Waddington as Moss continues to call him) has got a poor first touch often that cancels out the advantages he has created by movement and positioning.

Roar need to stay tight with defence and continue with the attacking play they have been showing so far.

Edit: Changed Gould to Moss...ooops

Can't understand why Kisnorbo would've taken Piscapo off at only 1-0?!! Doesn't make sense. I reckon he a flop
