Are you blind? Referees discussion thread.

Are you actually blind? If you haven't seen it before Google "colour changing card trick". You might be surprised how poor your vision is.

Yeah that's great. Have you seen the basketball one where they ask you to count the number of passes from the one team?

I was going to post that one too in a "Bored? Watch these" thread and decided not to bother for fear of having too many politically motivated clips added as 'entertainment'.

Fair enough. That johnsmith will come in and pollute that as well. Thank christ he doesn't seem to be that interested in football.

Reading that all at face value, he has been suspended because he told someone about a manager having a go at him and told the other bloke the manager was arrogant and used some swear words.

How is that a suspension cause?

There is no suggestion he 'paid him back' or showed anti-Liverpool bias or anything like that.

As if a ref isn't allowed to talk about a tough day at the office with someone else. Sounds unfair to me.

What sort of people are these so called 'mates' that record you or take photos of you at a party or function and then send them to the press?

Scum.

todays BS - and back in 2020 ffs.
What happens on the field stays on the field - not in this BS world anymore.

Comments Lupi?

I disagree. "Error of judgement" suggests the head of referees expected the VAR ref to make a guess on lack of evidence.

Given lack of sufficient evidence I see no reason why a VAR ref should overturn the on field ref's decision.

Poor TV coverage contributes to the lack of evidence, however this doesn't mean a VAR referee should be taking guesses, that's the job of the guy on the field.

We've seen in the past how poor television commentary can create a false narrative, with a past grand final about a decade ago in Brisbane springs to mind. That was prior to VAR and actually the TV camera coverage was superior then to now.

Interesting VAR call to scrub a goal in the derby. Just how far are they allowed to go back? It was definitely a foul but the liney was right there and didn't call it.

Getting a bit silly if you ask me.

All I can see in the principles is "build up" so.. they've left it very grey intentionally I suppose.

What a bunch of shit.

I asked how this wasn't a penalty. You said there was no contact and he stepped on the ball. I gave you photographic evidence and then you post some word salad up about the VAR and the ref. (Both of who have access to the same coverage and it's been acknowledged that it was the wrong call.) What's that got to do with whether or not there was contact?

It's not a weakness of character to admit when you are wrong. It shows you have integrity.

FMD.

But you can imagine a situation where a player 'wins' it on their own 18 yard line and then hoofs it upfield for someone to run onto. Imagine scrubbing that.

Have to admit I'm not au fait with all the VAR stuff because it's something I'll never use.

Anyone catch the bayern Munich match this week?

Had what seemed to be a super harsh pen, the sort of pen an asian ref might give

Just took a look, and not sure if he's given that for a handball, or being late. Either way, both options look negligible to me, to be honest...

EDIT: Took an extra watch, and is for the contact, no handball at all. But still, I don't think I'm giving that.
