If Segecic isn't being scouted by European clubs I'd be very surprised. Of course a step up but he's just so hot right now.

Sydney FC are crazy for not signing him up long ago.
Maybe the player wants to leave on a free to vastly increase the opportunities for himself. I am sure Sydney would have offered him something decent but money is tight.

Good player I think itā€™s time for him to get O/S

Segecic Is a better player than Irankunda with more promise and you can't change my mind. He looks way more composed in front goal, better at giving himself space in tight areas. Just looks better on the ball like he is always in control of it. where Irankunda looks like he is going to give up possession at any moment. Its a shame Segecic plays for Sydney Fc

Different player. Both have lots of potential.

Could imagine how big the transfer would be if heā€™s on contract for next season?

If Matthewā€™s went for around 2.5 million, Segecic would probably go for something similar.

Itā€™s important the clubs get reimbursed properly as it will help them financially.

Has segecic played 90+ minutes? Matthew did and Matthews also broke into the senior Socceroos side.

Ever since Arzani, I look to see whether the player can manage 90+ minutes.

I would think that if u have a big transfer fee there is more pressure to play you

I agree Segecic looks a real talent!

He is also 18 months older than Irankunda.

Transfer fees work two ways. The clubs use overpriced fees to discourage interest. But are also an opportunity to cash in if a club takes the bait. Problem is if it is too high then a player like segecic will be limited to offers from bigger clubs. And that opens the issue of performance expectation, playing time disappointment and possible delayed development. At segecicā€™s age a good second tier euro club is perfect and with a free transfer he will have more suitors and bigger choice.

I still believe it was the player and his agent that understood this and declined to sign a new contract. Sydney didnā€™t offer to re sign him before his class was proven and will miss out on the $.

I like the kid and think he has a big future.

Agree with his future being bright and a 2nd tier league being a good place
But that is still over a million dollars for a player of his quality. Nisbet was a free transfer and still struggled to get a league, players that go on a big transfer to 2nd tier leagues tend to get game time
