Sofascore collecting stats, will have to watch the replays to check out espositos passing range. Nearly 6 accurate long passes per 90

Absolutely nothing against you personally, Muz. I agree with you. I find the sentiment however often harshly criticised if the shoe is on the other foot and Australia miss tap ins. I guess there is high criticism for doing so. A framing of 'we suck' rather than 'we should have won that'.

I've just seen the highlights and the latter tap in. Wow, he's stumbled there! Do you mean the missed header was the other one? I'll wait for AFC highlights to show if there was anything else.

Interesting to note the highlights don't show ourselves creating other chances and I don't think we did?

Yeah fair enough. Was tired and a bit grumpy when I went to bed last night. Well done Australia. Hopefully we can get to this bloody world cup.

I can't believe it's been nearly 15 years since we were runners-up at the 2010 u19 Asian Cup.

In the more than 20 years that I've been watching Australian underage teams, this could be the strongest group of players we've had. Noting that some of this group's best players are unavailable for selection: Irankunda, Pavlesic, Youlley, Younes, Waddingham etc.

I'd be curious to know the number of senior appearances between the 2010 u19 and 2025 u20 squads prior to competition. Does anyone have those numbers at hand? From memory, much of the 2010 crop didn't get regular senior appearances until after the tournament.

Its a real shame that half the squad if we qualify wont be going to the world cup in Favour of kids playing in Europe who stuck there noses up at playing in these games.

I don't think that's fair. There's only 4 or 5 people not here and most of the time it's about supporting their career or their team has declined the call up.

Some may not go, even if their club release them, because they may be kept back for Socceroos selection for example Bennie.

I get it but this is nowhere near the fiasco of the Olyroos selection that blew any chance of Olympic qualification.

Not quite comparing like with like mind you since it was u19s. There are some players in the young squad that are below the age threshold, so to compare like with like I'll look at their club appearances by 23/24 rather than by u19
